I usually run toward them and then pull the attack when I get close, some people get confused and think you jumped and simply spin in place. Another trick to remember is to point your saber in their direction after you complete the move. Why? Well currently the game is bugged (at least I consider it a bug) While preforming a menuver your saber does a set amount of damage, even after the move seems to be done. For instance the DFA attack with heavy stance, even after they swing and the saber is sitting on the ground they can still get an instant kill.
