Sword Breaker
Just wondering... how the heck do I completely stop my server when it has been made available to the internet? That might be a bit vague... so to understand what I'm asking... I'll have to explain my situation. Well, to summarize what I've done, I downloaded the JKII Dedicated Launcher and ran it so that my server would viewable on the internet. I then ran JO and people connected to me when I created my own game... and after a bit of playing, I decided to stop. Now that I've shut down JO, I just noticed that I'm still sending/recieving short bursts of data... I'm not sure whether it's my computer communicating with that master server list a ravensoft.com or if it's communicating with people who still see my server on the list and are trying to connect. As you can tell, I have no idea about how any of this works... so I need to know how to stop it. Will it eventually stop on its own? I would like to know since I can't even recieve that master server list now (another post mentioned it had something to do with running a server and the method of fixing it was to just turn it off). So how do I turn this thing off!?
JediGhost[SITH]
Umm, did you try turning your computer off? That'll definately keep the master server off your heels.
Sword Breaker
I tried that but I still seem to recieve data even when my computer is off... guess I'll just have to wait and see if it eventually goes away.
jaustin1
I have the same problem. Even when I close all the ports on my router and shut down the server (either just the software or the whole machine) the requests are still coming in from all over the place on port 28070. Not just from the master server; the IPs are from ALL OVER the place. All I could figure was that, since my server is almost always up, that maybe I got added to the favorites list of a lot of people, and everytime they refresh their list it pings my 28070 port. (?) MatrixCPA
That is one possibilty. Another is that there is a small number of "stats" services out there which query the servers in the master list to obtain the info they need. So, if you're in the list, you may find that you get queried quite often. Ultimately, if you don't want that to happen, run a listen server instead of a dedicated one.
