Voodoo 3 Problem....

I can install JKII no problem. I can run single player but here's 1 problem, but when I play it, it's fine runs great...but when I die I can't reload the game either quick start or load. I get an invalid GL driver error. All my cpu drivers are up to date. The only way I can get back into the game after I die is to reboot my CPU.

Now multiplayer the other problem...

If I try to load up a multiplayer game my entire monitor goes white, and exits back to my desktop. I don't even get it loaded. Then I have to reboot to reset my monitor. Replacing the video card is not an option that I have at the current time.

I am running a voodoo 3 on WIN98

PIII-733 with 512mb ram on an Asus CUVX Motherboard

20gig HD

I went to this page...

http://www.wicked3d.com - the page does not exist(May 3, 2002)

Tried searching for the wickedgl driver, I had no luck.

I pulled my video card, uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers...same thing. Upgrading the video card is not an option that I have at the current time. Seems to me that this highly anticipated game was rushed to the stores just a little too early!!!

Any sugestions would be much apreaciated, and "Don't Die!" isn't the help I'm currently looking for...LOL

Wickedgl is an opengl driver for Voodoo cards. It improves performance and graphicsquality . You can get it here http://www.wicked3d.com/technology/wickedgl.htm

The driver doesn't support Jedi Outcast yet so u have to apply a little trick before u install the driver. Go to the GameData directory , look for jk2sp.exe and rename it to Quake3.exe .

Now install the driver. Select "Quake3" and "Install WickedGL regular version". Change Quake3.exe back to jk2sp.exe .

Did you read my post? JKII is not supported. You have to select Quake3 instead of Jedi Outcast.

Tell the install exe to look for Quake3.exe in Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData .

hi guys, i also have a voodoo 3 3000 agp, on xp pro, the game runs ok, load times are ok.. BUT...

i have this problem that once i am playing the game, if i go to save it, it gets very jumpy, DOES allow me to save. BUT, if i die, an either 'click to restart', or attempt to load a savegame from the menu, it dies.. crashes back to windows, and the gamma in windows is then about 10x higher than it should be... going to the 3dfx color settings manages to clear that back to normal, but it seems that the only way i can load a previously saved game, is to completely exit the game, and then reload it, an then load the savegame, else it either dies, or becomes stuck, at which point im forced to escape back to the main menu and quit the game....

Any idea's on how to fix this ?

I should mention also, that i am using the 3dfx Underground 1.06 alpha drivers from voodoofiles.com in XP also, as the 'real' drivers do not allow for opengl / glide in XP properly.

sys specs are:-

Athlon Thunderbird 800mhz

Asus A7V Via Apollo KT133 M/B

512meg SD-Ram

Voodoo 3 3000 AGP

Soundblaster Live!

C-Net 10/100 NIC

Flyvideo 2000 Tv Capture Card

Ricoh 32x12x10 Burner

Sony 40x/52x CD

2 x Western Digital 20gig 7200 rpm drives.

I have the same problem with the Gamma Settings returning to 10X. I also tried to install WickedGL but to no avail. I guess the obvious question is did people try the demo version or did you register (i.e pay the 8 dollars) and then try it out.? Any light you shed on this would be much appreciated...

no i havent tried that... but i doubt it would make much difference.

mine wouldnt even run it at all with the opengl32.dll from wickedgl in the game directory. wasnt till i removed it that i atleast got it working again, but again this is xp im talking about. so ....

as for the gamma thing, you can atleast right click the desktop, go properties, settings, advanced, and go to 3dfx color settings.

just going there seems to put it back to normal, without changing anything.... strange.. but it works.. also did find that it does work if you do the video change thing in game, to reload a save game after dieing. but not always.. seems to work most of the time if i change 2 things, even if only to return them to the same setting. but its still double handling... not really much faster than loading the whole game again as i was. grrrrrrrrrr..... damnit, i like the game, but **** its pissing me off doing that all the time!!! :(
