David Icke Posted May 6, 2002 Posted May 6, 2002 I thought i had plenty of resources to host 2 servers on my machine, a ffs and a duel,, i have 2 450mhz cpus and about half a gig of ram i think whith just a FFA server running. output of the "top" command shows me that both my cpu's have 90% resource free, that should give me enough processing power for 5 jedi servers ..... but then I look at memory consuption and the jk2ded process is eating about 80% of my ram,,,"even when nobody is on the server" whith so little free ram there is no chance of hosting 2 servers. Is this normal? or has something wierd just happened. i heard jedi was a ram monster, but did not think it was this bad. or maybe i just happened to look at "top" the same time as the crontab was running logparse.pl over my 1/4 of a million lines of logs
MatrixCPA Posted May 6, 2002 Posted May 6, 2002 I prefer to use ps to see how much ram the server is using on its own. My 16 player CTF server typically consumes about 160mb. Of course, I have 896mb of ram.
evilpeno Posted May 7, 2002 Posted May 7, 2002 my server is a dual p2 350 w/ 256GB in it, and the jk2ded is only using about 10% of the memory on average. i have 8 player slots open though, but i'm also running q3, counter-strike and elite forces on the same box.
