leelink
How do I change the ports for JK2 so that I can run 2 servers on one pc. I want both servers to be internet servers. I run duel and want to put up two 4 people servers on the internet. also can someone tell me the program name or post a link to where I can get a program that will configure my servers for me. I saw it mentioned here a few times but couldnt find it in the search.
Jasco Smlee
Just add +set net_port 28071 to the shortcut for you're server (outside the "") if your using Windows. This will then run that server on this port. The default port is 28070. I think you can go up to 28081 or something.
MatrixCPA
Technically, you can use any port that isn't already in use by something else. However, the game is defaults to using a port range of 28070-28080. So, all things being equal, it's just as well to stay inside that range. JediGhost[SITH]
The range of ports is AT LEAST 27000 to 29000.
MatrixCPA
I stated that any unused port could be used...which would, obviously, include 27000-29000. However, the server will try to use the 28070 to 28080 range on it's own. So, unless there is a compelling reason to use a different one, why not stick with the default range? Jasco Smlee
Off the top of my head, the tech. doc. that comes with the game states 28070-28081 inclusive (I think), i merely took my numbers from there. No doubt it will work with other port numbers, if you want to be different! Will games on other, non standard ports, still show up in the game browsers and stuff though? MatrixCPA
As long as the server is sending (and the master server is receiving) the hearbeat, the server should show up regardless of the port. I've seen servers in the list with ports all over the place.
