Elegy
Try slapping in a sound card that supports dolby digital 5.1, connecting it to the back of your dolby digital-capable stereo unit in your room with a special little cable from radioshack, and listening to that crap then. Course, whatever you're playing on your comp has to be encoded in dolby digital 5.1 as well, otherwise it's just basic left and right surround. UniKorn
I head the eax support in jk2 wasn't that great, so I never activated it although I have the audigy and a 5.1 system. I guess I should check it out then.
The Truthful Liar
hey you there! (geez it never gets tiring) Well, I am getting Sound Blaster Audigy with a Klipsch Pro 5.1 Speaker system (surround sound)... How would I go by setting EAX up to work perfectly then? (or would it work anyway without having to tweak up anything?)
RobKerwin
This may sound stupid but if i put in headphones, I get real good sound, making it VERY satisfying when I slice up stormies Hey, you there wooo, wooo, aughhh, yyuaagghhh
CupO'Coffee
has any of you guys an idea when EAX 3.0 is coming out for any other soundcard than the audigy? from what i heard EAX 3.0 is only available for audigy and extigy cards ATM, and since i have a normal soundblaster live! (yes, the 3-years-old-card) i would like to know when i am allowed to hear "hey, you there" with excellent echo
Clem
it wont be creative and if it aint creative it aint worth having creative OWN all other soundcards

CupO'Coffee
Originally posted by DarkAgent SB Live! 5.1 = No EAX yor surely mean no EAX 3.0, because sb live! cards do have EAX (my old one does for sure), but they only got EAX 2.0, not 3.0 but i'm pretty sure creative will release 3.0 drivers for everything older than audigy/exitgy... at least i hope so... if not, then maybe its time to force pull my money and buy a new soundcard... preferably a audigy... if shes worth the money that is
Clem
having neva owned a live i cant comment but i doubt they'll put EAX 3 on older cards i think its more to do with the processor than nething else (correct me cos im prolly wrong) audigy is WELL WORTH IT i personally combine mine with the Inspire 5.1 speakers (also by creative) it sounds GR8
DarkAgent
Hmmm... Audigy does sound pretty decent. I will consider replacing the Live! card. Thanks for the input guys DA

EDOX
I can beat you all with the oldest audio card. I have an old ISA SB 16. w00t!!!111 It works and when I go to upgrade my computer I alway seem to ever look it. =D I have been meaning to get a good sound card for years. Chastan
Get a Turtle Beach Creative is a lying company, Audigy is a terrible product. Why not to buy anything from Creative
Chastan
Also I hear the Hercules sound cards are excellent... don't know what their price is however... The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz is around $70, if anybody ends up getting Creative get the Live!, it's actually a better deal than the Audigy. Good luck -- may the Force be with you
Clem
hey i hadnt heard of this .... but ... u gotta expect bitterness for the biggest soundcard producer ... all i know is i have an audigy (not platinum) and a set of creative inspire speakers i use winamp ive neva had ANY problems with this ... thats my experience and it sounds SWEET about the 24bit ... i havent got a clue
Chastan
Yeah, I suppose I am being a bit critical, you probably would be pretty happy with an Audigy, just want to let you know there are some alternatives =)
