What the Hell?

Yeah you're right, it does sound like someone wants to stir up trouble. That'd be you.

Though I must compliment you for perfectly framing the theme of immaturity throughout the thread. Then again, you've already demonstrated that in oh-so-many other threads.

Some people just dont get it.

Way to attack me and not what i said. You should be a politician.

I'm glad that you do keep up with my Forum posts.

So sticking your penis in another mans ass isn't un-masculine?

Do you think it is a very masculine thing to do?

Its obvious that the insult was just normal male ribbing that you are trying to turn into gay bashing.

Guys have always joked with each other about things like that.

I'm not the one who started the thread. I just contributed.

I think "homo" is an insult because homosexuals have anal sex with each other. They insert their penis into another mans anus.

Therefore, claiming that someone who is straight, is doing this, is very insulting indeed.

You homo.

You know, there's an old saying that goes something like "Words only have power over you if you allow them to."

I've been called the 'N' word, I've been called a 'Sp*c' (and a halfbreed, because I'm a hispanic/black combo).

I've been called 'Gay' (still wondering about why) and 'Oreo'.

so what. If you allow yourself to become indignant everytime someone calls you a name (and being called Gay is the least offensive of the one's I mentioned), then you have no one to blame but yourself for empowering the person doing the name calling.

I've been told many times, by 'Caucasian' and 'Black' (yes, I said it, dammit!) friends, that they were "surprised that you speak so well. I didn't know you were Hispanic". Unintentional on their part, but taken the wrong way, I could have grown indignant at the implication that hispanics are too stupid to speak proper. But I didn't. Why? Because I'm comfortable and happy with what I have made of myself.

You guys/gals (can I say 'Gals? Will I offend?) need to just check yourselves on this. It's a pretty lame argument I see here.

Tek.

BTW, in gaming nomenclature, the proper spelling is 'Ghey', which has a different meaning than what you all are 'discussing'. It essentially means, 'lacking skill'.......

BTW#2, If what started this was the pic of Erik Estrada, I personally found the Pic said it all. The words were incidental, IMV. Get over it......I showed it to my sister, who is Gay, and she thought it was one of the funniest things she'd seen in a while (taken in context). Guess it comes down to how comfortable you are with yourself......

I as well showed it to a friend and he was disgusted. It has nothing to do with being secure with yourself, and its not about being offended by the term.

The point is that these kind of social undertones are the greatest symptom and propagator of intolerance in america. If you cant see that, so be it.

And its true that these terms are different from the N word, etc. The N word is a nasty horrid reminant of a sadistic passed society, gay (in the derogatory sense) in not as much of an insult as it is a [bad] sign of the times. Its [usually] not gay bashing, but its the psychological aspect.

First of all, this needs to be in the swamp.

Next, the ethics on gays/lesbians is very sensitive and unstable. People like to scream out dsicriminator just because. Gays/lesbians should know very well the potential tormet that comes with that choice. It's their decision if they want to live their life with potential tormet and harrassment. Since you cannot control everyone, and some people are pretty f'ed anyway, there will always be someone who insults you for who you are.

I personally do not support them. Their choices conflict with my ethics and morals, and therefore I shut them out. I dont insult anyone with 'gay' or 'homo' because I have better insults up my sleeves.

Just because I do not support them doesn't mean I hate them, and wish they were thrown off the earth. We should have equal rights on the human level, not our sexuality preference. Gays/lesbians shouldn't recieve any more 'care-bearing' than anyone else.. because I can assure you, there are far worse things to be insulted for than being gay/lesbian.

Get some new insults. 'Gay' and 'Homo' are old now, and really don't create crowd interest. More elaborate insults are something you should practice on.

hahahahaha, no. People should practice the lost art of conversing in a civil manner without mudslinging.

Let's face it folks, the world is a screwed up place. You either contribute to the festering or you don't.

Sorry to seem immature to you all, but in any case I dont deny that I am. The reason I call someone gay is becuase it is an insult, if I wish to insult someone that is a choice I have. Not becuase a gay person is not the majority or the norm (im a wierdo, so I cant go and be a hippocryte) its becuase being gay is disgusting to me. It is because the act of sticking your penis into another man anus makes me want to puke; so......bring on the flames fags.

I give up, people are too intolerant. What ethics and morals would those be? Hate people that are different? Hate people because they dislike you for chastizing them? The word is a pretty damn f'ked up place, indeed.

Lime-Light, your idiocy, immaturity, and intolerance make me sick. Nah, you're not weird. You're just dumb as hell.

Pardon me, but I never said I hated them, if you read my post. I said I did not support them, and I will now add their views that I do not support. I never said I hated them because they chose to be that way, I said I do not support their decision.

I am sorry for having views on the situation differing from yours and that it appearently upsets you. Next time, you may want to consider the consequences of posting a thread like this on such a sensitive subject.

I understand where you're coming from, Cow, but I still stand by what I said: If you allow the words/pics/whatever to upset you, you empower them. I can't tell whether you agree with that or not.

I'm sorry that your friend was disgusted, but if he is secure in his feelings/preference, or if he isn't offended by the post, then why *is* he disgusted? It just doesn't add up. If he is offended by the content of the post/pic, there is nothing wrong with that.

Pardon me if you already now this, but this country was FOUNDED on intolerance. Intolerance of the natives, intolerance of the slaves, intolerance of immigrants, so it's nothing new. Things have changed for the better, but it's no utopia, let me tell you from first hand experience. The way to change people's perceptions is by helping them to understand why something bothers someone, not by flaming them ad infinitum.

The funny thing is, and I'm quoting my sister here, is that you've drawn MORE attention to that post than it would have otherwise gotten. Which we found quite ironic, based on your position. She and I respect what you're saying, btw.

Thanks for taking the time to read my, and my sister's, thoughts on this. I'll leave you to your 'crusade' now (and that is NOT meant as a slight or flame, so please don't take it that way).

Tek.

hehe "you are wrong in your assumptions" now that's a funny statement:p in any case who cares. im chinese and when people call me a chink i look at them and laugh.. then again most people are even smart enough to call me that and call me a gook or something equally absurd. just so everyone gets it right

chink=insult for chinese

gook=insult for viet

if you're gonna insult me at least get the insult right plz thanks... then again i dont listen to the sayings of idiots and neither should any of you who have half a brain. just acknowledge people who namecall for what they are : children, and do what you normally do to children when you cant smack them: ignore them. anyways that's my two cents :D

Well there is a cultural backstory to that which you need to understand. Its okay for african-americans to use it affectionately because the word loses its power when african-americans use it. When a white person uses it, it brings back the memories of white supremacy, and is therefore offensive.

It is very much a taboo for whites to say it, but not the other way around. Thats just how some things are.
