  1. 1. Is this board getting like CS when it comes to patches and game changes?

    • yes, every time something is changed, some group of people will whine... no matter how small the change is... Thats who they are... thats what they do...

Honestly every single new version of Cs that has ever come out, has met with a lot of vocal complaints and whines... every patch I saw (since beta 5.0 for me, since thats when I discovered it), met with almost ARMED resistance!

did you all just migrate to this game from there? or what?

I placed a friendly wager with a friend of mine who hates the new patch (I love it).

The wager goes as follows:

If the next patch adresses something minor and doesn't change the current game much more, or simply adds a new ability to the game somehow, like giving the player the choice between patches to search for... or more maps, and a few new models... It will definately be bitched about if more balancing changes occur however, we both agreed on that... So I say that with even the minimal changes, will be bitched and moaned about till the next patch and so on...

He says it won't be...

What do you think? NO not about this patch, but about our bet? who do YOU think will win!?

History says I will BTW. heheh (eyes the music Cd that was agreed upon as the prize of the bet, and thinks "Soon my pretty... soon you will be MINE!")

Beta 1.0 for me. Very correct, you'll win.

The golden age of the net is over. I kinda miss the days when only relatively intelligent people were on the internet. Now every idiot has been given a voice and they have chosen to use that voice to bitch about video games and movies.

Yes, I went with option #1. There will always be people like that, no matter where you are or what its over.

I am annoyed however, by how many immature people keep beating the dead horse about the patch, like it or don't, but I think if Raven were paying attention, have gotten the point aready. I doubt they'll do anything to suit the patch haters, becuase people like that are never happy.

I don't understand why these people go through the frustration of registering, just so they can post 1 topic and then vanish away from the boards, maybe returning again to defend theirself from the flames of other members.

The 'patch' has been out for 3 (?) days now, get over and move on. If you don't like it, go back to 1.02 no need to protest alloud being as so many others aready have.

BTW, I myself think the patch is great.:D

That's a sucker bet. ALL multiplayer games recieve complaints when they are patched. Here's a few reasons why:

1) Something in the game that was useful was made at least in some small amount LESS useful. Or "nerf". In this case, tons of nerfing was done. Drain, Heal, Ammo depletion, Strong Stance... others?

2) Game modifications. Ever since amatuers have been making multiplayer mods for Quake 1, the general multiplayer community believes that anyone can be a game designer. In a lot of cases, they are right. Unfortunately, they don't seem to realize that being a game designer is much different from being a GOOD game designer... so regardless of any gameplay changes in a patch, there will be players that think something should be different (or the same as it was in some cases), and they are more than willing to let you know just exactly what should be done.

3) If a patch includes changes to gameplay that were dirived from comments on messageboards (like the one you are reading right now), then it is logical to assume that continued complaints will yeild continued changes to the game in question.

These three reasons have been around long before Counter-strike patch-fests. It's been going on ever since the game developers have let it be known that they have an eye on the consumer base. They wanted to let people know that so as to keep them around longer and build a customer relationship with them (which, cynically enough, increases their bottom line in the right circumstances).

Instead it just let the masses know that they had important peoples' attentions. Who isn't going to keep talking after that happens?

I just got the game a couple days before the patch. I checked into these forums and thought the general tone here was pretty low-brow.

Lots of nasty stuff, people crying about DFA whores, blah, blah, blah.

Since the patch we can really see what people are like here. Pretty lame.

Of course there are smart people on the forums. But as we all know forums have more complainers than not. Because happy gamers dont usually bother to post. So forums are dominated by a vocal minority of nattering nabobs of negativity.

Forums are great for getting info on the game, and learning things from other players. But they can almost ruin a game too. Many games I have played i had to quit reading the forums.

I was playing a great game, then I go online and read a bunch of moronic crap from people with bad attitudes. Almost like they werent even playing the same game as me.

I guess we have to take the good with the bad. I just hope the Devs realize how these whiners dont represent the majority of players (no matter how much they think they do).

This patch rules!

May the force be with all of us!

I couldn't agree more with those statements. Well put. :D:)

It is like CS, just without cheaters. The game just came out, and I'm sure there will be another patch. Just give them time to play with the settings before you people have heart attacks. I honestly doubt they have a lot of people there that can constantly test everything for as long as the people who purchased the game. That's why they look in these forums to see what people think.

If you have a complaint, be civil, don't go ape **** and post about something you dislike, cussing like a maniac. I bet those are the first posts they ignore.
