Damn Tired of Seeing The Same Chimpy Move

On every server lately I see one person performing the same chimpy move over and over again.

They somehow force pull you behind them and then do a backward slash in heavy or medium stance that kills you right out, even at full health.

It's easy to spot the person because they usually have 30 kills when everyone else has 5 to 7.

I haven't been able to perform this move and am not sure I want to. I don't want to sink that low.

theres something fishy about it actually, Ive attempted to recreated the maneuver hours on end after observing it in use without success. the person would have to have about 3x the full force they actuially have to do it, ive seen pppl pull and drop 2-3 ppl right next to them simultaniously then use the back attack heavy to kill ALL three who were at full health. seems awfully odd to me. theres a bug or hack out there methinks.

Even if its not a hack, its damn chimpy.

For lack of fighting style, the individual repeats this move throughout the game racking of kills. Then they boast about how they 0wn and how l33t they are. these people generaly excel at **** talking.

Nice part about a one trick pony is that once you figure out a counter, they suddenly start to suck. Worry less about people being dumb and worry more about figuring out a counter.

Nothing feels more grand than cutting down someone who's using scripts to automate his kills.

Specially on a duel server when people go 'dude you know that guy is using scripts right?'

;)

for some reason this move seems hard to counter. and it is completely dominating servers frequent. I guess it's just a matter of time, though, before someone figures out a counter move to this move and I hope they are kind enough to post it

use absorb...

use protect...

backstab them back...

in order not to get knocked down, by either force pull/push have all the levels of it up.

In large melee combat, have absorb on from being knocked down or spammed by lighting.

If they kick knock you down, and they are about to backstab you, use protect. You will live... backstab them right back.

Backstab/slash in itself is not cheap. Running backwards @ss fighting is just funny. Someone executing a backstab when you least expect it (w/out using force powers... straffing... jumping right behind you etc...) takes a good deal of practice and skills.

i haven't witnessed it myself, but what I guess happens is they lead with a simple force pull, then run past you a tiny bit, then execute the backstab. Basically the same as knocking someone down, doing a 180 and backstabbing, but probably easier to script.

Not going to be any surefire counters for it, probably mostly involves fancy footwork. Study them for a bit and try to learn how they set up the move. Then once you can recognize the setup:

Stay out of tripping range, avoid encountering them face to face, jump over them (or out of the way) when you see them charging you, or force push them before they can pull you (pulling would be a bad idea because if they already happen to have the backstab animation playing you just put yourself very close to a deadly blade).

Once you defeat the script once or twice they'll probably start using it less, at which point you can use more orthodox means against them.

These SOMEWHAT counter the Pull-Slash spammer...

When approaching someone you KNOW spams this move, always keep your Force as high as possible and face them as often as possible to block their pull.

If you want to get in close, try rolling straight towards them, then quicly angle off to the side. Slash, then get some distance.

Use Absorb. With this on you're immune to their Pull.

If knocked down, and you have Force left, turn on Protection. It should stop you from being killed in one stroke.

Circle strafe around them. When they pull back and get some distance, do a back roll. If you aren't close, they can't do it.

Pull out a weapon and blow them away from a distance. They aren't DUELING you when they're doing that, why offer them the courtesy of allowing them to kill you?

Use Mind Trick to get in close, someone who does that lame move over and over probably hasn't put any points into Seeing.

If you're a Dark sider, use Drain, and if pulled, hit Rage to prevent a one-swing death.

I haven't tried this one yet, but put on the Heavy stance and and when they pull you into them, they SHOULD take damage.

Totally Off Topic:

I Think I've seen you around on some servers, mainly Jenstadt :D

I have to wholeheartedly agree with that. FFA of any form is practically worthless when you have at least one person with so little Honour running around abusing that aspect of the game. Thank god for challenging someone to a duel in FFA .. it's the only redeeming quality. I don't play to win, I play to have fun. But you can't even do either with those script spamming newbies online. I hope an appropriate modification comes soon.

An important note: the move is so much less of a deal in 1 on 1 duels. But in FFA's, with people running around and attacks coming w/out a moment's notice, that sort of lame abuse is a serious problem and really kills the fun.

It's a sad state of affairs when they mess up saber damage so much that the only way to get results is to run around backwards, hoping to get a lucky backsweep or stab in.

Back in 1.02, a backstab was something that was rarely seen, and looked pretty darn cool... now everybody's spamming it....

Great job Raven...

uh that's because everyone was busy spamming DFA.

People will ALWAYS spam the most damaging attacks. Trying to nerf or remove each in turn as people decide they're being overused will ruin the game as surely as people scripting attacks does.

Only solution is to not have any special attacks in.. and that's not much fun for anyone now, is it?

Some of the moves on JKII are instant kills, and they border on really cheap if not absolutely cheap. Avoidance once you recognize them is possible, but who the hell wants to compete against someone who racks up 20 kills on other people to your 1 kill which was NICE? Whats the purpose of JKII? Is it to rack up alot of kills? Or manipulate your character so that your invinceable in a duel? I could pick up a flechette weapon and nail a crowd of guys fighting taking them out 4 at a time, and win numerically, but thats such a hollow win. I think these questions in the end add fun of the game keeping it challenging and not boring. Killing people again and again with the same old hack move, now thats boring.

Hold on now. I for one feel no shame in killing my opponent with a backstab. If he allowed himself to be open for the fall, then I'll take advantage of the situation. A good player is hard to take down to. I've learned over my time dueling, that players can avoid pulls with good rolls, and absorb at the right time. If your opponent is getting the jump on you (around you), shouldn't he have the advantage?

Then they boast about how they 0wn and how l33t they are. these people generaly excel at **** talking.

I agree here. It's a computer game, why brag?

I disagree. What these people are doing takes no skill whatsoever. I'm sorry, i stand corrected: they need the skill to package the moves into a neat little script, so they can perform the move flawlessly and endlessly.

Since the game came out, I've spend roughly one hour a night playing multiplayer. Now, granted, that might not be much compared to people who spend 10-12 hours a day playing (and i know there are some)

But I'm 35, have a job, a wife, kids, a rent. I play when I can. I feel that in the past few months I have developed some skill, though I am by no means great and have been bested by better men who Played fairly, without replicating the same move throughout the fight.

Again, I feel that this patch had diminished the skill necessary to win in saber contact. Take a look out there. People are swinging madly, spamming lighting, and spamming the pull/backstab. Before the patch, we had only to contend with DFA.

Oh well, **** it.

I've seen said chimpy move, I've whupped people using said chimpy move. The thing is is that MOST (and I say most because you don't know hell until you've faced BloodRayne, damn he's good with that move, that and the DFA.) of these spammers are newbs, and tend to leave once they realized that they can't spam the move anymore. I get called all sorts of names just by flipping on absorb. So far my favorite is "Myg0t." They think I'm cheating when I flip on absorb. I love how they stand right in front of me trying to pull me down, even though it doesn't work. I love pushing and pulling them around once they've wasted all their force power trying to move me around. Morons.

There is no single "counter" but there are things you can do. Like absorb, protection, staying away from said spammer and chucking your saber at him, and god forbid it comes to this, but you can always kick vote the spammers.
