-=BoJ=- TYsON
I've been playing JK for about a month now and I always join someone else's servers. Now I want to start one of my own, but whenever I try it wont let me. Here is what happens: Dedicated Server: NO - Noone can find the game Im trying to start. Dedicated Server: LAN - kicks me back to the desktop and the games MP Console just sits at my desktop Dedicated Server: INTERNET - kicks me back to the desktop and the games MP Console sits on the desktop. I scroll down to read whats in the box and it says this: missing{ in info file missing{ in info file Then I try the advance setting - There is 2 options Pure Server YES and Pure Server NO. I try them both and nothing works. If anyone can tell me what settings I have to have everything on please let me know. I dont use a server, I just use my basic computer. 1800XP Athlon 512MB RAM. Im sure that is plenty to host a game as Ive hosted DiabloII games before on the same computer. Thanks for helping out, Mike
teleguy
Dedicated Server: NO - Noone can find the game Im trying to start. Non-dedicated servers don't send out a heartbeat, so they don't show up in any list. Raven did this deliberately to reduce stress on the master-server. Dedicated Server: LAN - kicks me back to the desktop and the games MP Console just sits at my desktop Dedicated Server: INTERNET - kicks me back to the desktop and the games MP Console sits on the desktop. I scroll down to read whats in the box and it says this: missing{ in info file missing{ in info file There's nothing wrong about that . As the word "Dedicated Server" says its sole purpose is to be a server , because of that it won't let you play. Then I try the advance setting - There is 2 options Pure Server YES and Pure Server NO. I try them both and nothing works. Pure server means that the server checks the clients files to prevent cheating. I can think of 3 alternatives to let you host your game: 1) The easiest way is to play on the zone: http://zone.msn.com/jedioutcast/ 2) IP connection. Go to the windows startmenu and enter winipcfg in "Run" . The program that loads will tell you your IP .( Alternatively start the game open the console with shift and the key left to 1 and type showip . Now disable the fullscreen option in video setup and alt tab out of the game.) Tell your friends your IP . Then create a (non-dedicated) server . ( You may enable fullscreen now.) Your friends have to start the game, open console and type connect [ip] e.g. connect 218.231.121.83 . 3) This one might effect performance. Create a dedicated internetserver. That will drop you back to desktop . Now start a new game and go to the ingame browser or launch Gamespy or whatever you use. Look for the server you created (sort servers by ping) and join it. (This works with 1 cd and 1 pc)
