Custom map names

Is there a way to list the names of custom maps, in order to add them to a config file? I notice that the wired lamp ones are listed as wl.1-8 in the base folder, but are named when running a non-ded server. It also seems that the names in the ded server faq are similar but different than wat one would select in a non ded mp server.

I don't know of any command that lists maps installed on the server. Of course, most good map designers include a readme with the map that lets you know how the map is to be referred to in a config file. If they omit that, you can always pop open the pk3 with winzip and see what they named the bsp.

Jedi Runner has a built in map scanner that will scan your base folder and list all available maps, including supported game types. There will also be a thumbnail image of the level to help identify a given map.

 

You can use Jedi Runner to create you map cycle if required.
