CL_ParsePacketEntities

I keep getting that error when I connect to my remote server. I am assuming that all of the clients are receiving that error also. I do not get that error when connecting to another server.

The server is XP1800, 512MB DDR RAM, Netgear NIC, on a T1 line. The server is also a Domain Controller for a small site, but I only run the JK2 server after hours. If anyone has any info I would really appreciate it.

If I am not mistaken this error "CL_ParsePacketEntities" is the result of attempting to run Multiplayer with the No-Cd crack.

Or

You need to update to 1.03. One, or the other. I do however believe it is caused by the No-Cd crack.

Sorry, but you need to run game with CD-Rom.

:lsduel: <this = you and I sometime. :)

PS.

I think this was the wrong thread to post under. Next time try Technical Help Unless you are running a Dedicated Server.

(This is not a Flame )

#1 It is a dedicated server... so this is the right area (or will be once its running correctly)

#2 No I am not using the no-cd crack, I am using a virtual drive so i do not have to have a CD drive installed on a Domain Controller that someone can just pop-in any old CD.

#3 Is there any way around this w/o using the CD in the drive

Thank You

Close but not really.(master anakin's post)

I get the error after playing for a bit. It doesnt happen if I'm alone, it happens when other people (or bots) are in the server. It does not happen anywhere else except that server.

The ip is 209.141.212.130 on the default port.

Yes the server is availible to the outside world. I am connecting on cable and the server's connection is a T1 line

I bet you are attempting to connect to the server using its published address, yet the server is connected to your local network. Use its local, untranslated IP address to connect and you should be fine.

People external to your network are probably not seeing this problem if I'm correct about the circumstances.

I attempted to connect to your server and I too got the error.

There where people playing when I connected. (or bots)

I havent any ideas. But I have ruled out your client. :)

Perhaps posting your configuration file could shed some light on the cause of this error.

Sure ill post the config, I took it from someone's post on here. I have tried multiple configs from simple as hell to complex and the problem does not go away. This is the one I am currently using:

Just as a side note, I saw you have g_duelWeaponDisable set to 1. I'd presume you want to set it to 65531 to make it saber only. Of course, since the server is set for saber only in general, I forget if there's any weapons to pick up anyway. Just thought I'd mention it though for future reference.

Change servers. That's what I would do. I can't think of anything about a domain controller that would cause a problem, but it may be a possibility. So try a different machine just to rule out a machine specific problem.

One other thought.... your T-1 is it PPP or CIR based? Reason I ask, is I used to run servers on a fractional 512k, with 384k CIR. And my elite force servers would pump that error out all the time particuarly during map changes, and sometimes connects.

Then at some point I upgraded to a Full PPP T-1. And never had the problem since. And nothing else changed, just a simple "software" upgrade more or less. My thought is this, that "bursting" which is used in CIR based lines may interfere or screw up the timings of the server. Keep in mind this is just a hunch I have about it. I wouldn't bet on that being the case yet.

You have a command in your config:

seta sv_zone "FFA"

I don't know exactly what sv_zone does, but the only commands having to do with gametype are of the g_* prefix.

Try

"reset sv_zone"

"sv_zone" to check the value. If it is still FFA, set it to.... 64 as a test.

"set sv_zone 64"

Skitch, when people on your network connect, are they using the internet broadcast IP or the internal network IP?

I'm assuming you are running NAT and the actual IP's are different on either side of your firewall/router.

I finally fixed this problem. Here's what I had to do.

1. Downgraded my Linksys router's firmware from current to the 1.39 version.

2. Port 28070 is opened for the server. Port 28071 is opened for my gaming computer.

3. On the server, the dedicated server exe has a shortcut with the extension "+ set net_port 28070"

4. On my gaming comp, the JK2 exe has a shortcut with the extension "+ set net_port 28071"

This solved all of my problems -- both CL_ParsePacketsEntities and some Connection Interrupted problems.

Good luck! Until Raven changes their FAQ to mention that this happens even to those of us using store bought CDs, it's hard to get help on this issue.

I too, am getting this error. I've tried different NICs in both server and game system, I tried opening all the ports up, and even setting the server on a different port from the game system. Both systems are way overpowered to play the game and serve MP. I'm using retail CDs, 1.03 patch, and I've tried Linksys firmware from 1.39 to the latest 1.42, but nothing fixes it. Friend of mine that connects gets the error too. I've had better results with the 1.39 firmware, but no complete fix as of yet. Sometimes it happens after a couple of minutes, sometimes its 8-15 minutes, but it happens and its really getting annoying. Anyone have any better ideas or do we need to patition to Raven to get us a fix?

I also have this problem. I have the linksys router, and have purchased new net cards, etc. What OS are you running? I have XP on both of my pc's and am going to try win98 and 2K for the server to see if that makes a difference. both 1Ghz systems have nearly the same parts except for vid and net cards. Hopefully there is something simple we are missing here....

I too have a linksys router, I have 8 pc's sharing a cable modem connection through it. In order for all pc's to be able to play any Quake 3 engine'd game each pc must have a unique +set net_port number on the command line.

Each of these pc's use The All-Seeing Eye so all I do is go to options, games and add the +set net_port ###### command at the end of the path to the game exe.

Works every time.

hrm.... on my pure server i use port 28021, my client I use 28010. I am trying to connect form the master server listing, as most people would to get into the game but it still boots me after a min or two. rather annoying. connecting interally works fine, but I would like to play someone other than the bots on my server.....

used the 1.39 firmware, ports 28070 and 28071 as mentioned above by torowa-sdg, still no dice....

what version firmware are you using on it?

I have the linksys befsr41 and I get the same exact message, if I remove the router I dont have any problems at all. Its definately a problem that showing up with linksys routers. its either due to how we have configured the game to work with that router or the router itself, but it seems to be confined mostly to linksys routers.
