WinXP + IntelliPoint mouse problem

Recommended Posts

First, here is my setup:

1) WinXP Pro

2) MS IntelliMouse Optical (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouse/io_info.asp)

3) IntelliPoint software (point32.exe) to configure extra buttons on mouse

The problem is, the two side buttons (MOUSE4 and MOUSE5) malfunction if I leave (3) running. If I kill (3) then the buttons work as expected in JKII.

Is there a fix/workaround for this?

I have the same exactsetup and mine works fine. Mouse 3 is set to use force powers and 4 and 5 are for jump and crouch. Try setting buttons 4 and 5 to keyboard letters. Select custom keystroke from the intellimouse properties and set it to any key you want. If that doesnt work try uninstalling and reinstalling your intellimouse software.

I run windows 98 with the intelipoint and the problem I had was when I had mouse 3 to use force in the game, it would only stay on for a second then cut out. I got around it by assigning use force to a key in the game and then assigning mouse 3 to that key with the intelipoint software.

No problems here on an identical software setup. I use button 4 for pull and 5 for push. There may be a difference in that I downloaded Intellipoint 4.x from M$.

A workaround that may work for you is to allow application specific button configs within intyellipoint, map buttons to keyboard keys, then in JK2, map your commands to keyboard keys rather than the mouse.

I run winXP and have never even installed the intellipoint software.. it just works fine..

anything I wanna bind to the buttons just works.. atm the buttons are set to draw/sheathe saber and issue/accept saber duel.. although I don't use the mousewheel for anything but scrolling the weapons..

so is there any advantage at all in installing the intellipoint software then, and could you guys have more luck without it?
