Aerys
Historically speaking, how secure is it to give Admin rights to someone else? Have there been problem with remote Admins gaining access to computers running Quake-type game servers? Coming from a traditional IT background I am loathe to give anyone access to my computer, even if it is only for remote game administration. Aerys
Someone reboot the 286 that's running these message boards please.
Cedrin
Since there is no logging for remotely RCON attemps, someoen could easly write themselves an rcon brute forcing utility. All they need is time.
EaSyKiLL
As far as I know the worst someone can do with rcon is be a butthead or maybe crash the server with malicious commands, but I dont think they can harm your computer or anything else other than your JK2 game. If that is what you are wondering.
Aerys
Yes, that is exactly what I was wondering. I'd just like to know if there's any horror stories from the old-time Q3-style server admins out there...
