Book or site suggestions?

Hey all,

I'd really like to get involved in coding, but know virtually nothing about C++. I have a large red book titled "Beginning Visual C++ 6" by Ivor Horton, and have read through most of it, but I find it kinda generic, and i still can't understand most of what's being said in the JK2 source code, except the IF commands, and #include. Do any of you have any suggestions for other books to help me along? Or even websites..

Thanks in advance,

coding for hl...

when i started coding for jk2 or quake well i was strange first lol !because i wanted to use the c++ class definitions ....

but at my informatic school we study a stupid language :

Turbo Pascal ...and the TP structures are very similar to C structs so no problem....

Practicing is the key .

good luck

dont get me wrong, but isnt Turbo Pascal a bit outdated?

Iam learning C, Visual Basic, and html (wow, thats hard ;0 )

awyway, best way to learn is to browse some sites,

i use google with a search string like: C+programming+tutorial

or something like it, always works :p

good luck!

TP IS WAY TOO MUCH OUTDATED !!!

the language is so old and rigid you have too many restrictions and don't have any liberty so you learn programation in "the right way...."

well this suxx but i learn c and c++ outside :)

(and i get very good grades at TP to....)

next year we will start c at school and i will know everything they will try to teach me (as usual :) )!

but this is a good school :)

we smoke and get drunk all day :) !

fun and not too hard work !

edit : it s the first year for me in this school (out of 5)

so most of the students don't know anything to programation (98% actually :) )
