C'jais
This came from a request by Hoth, and I didn't know where to put it. Have anyone noticed that in episode 1+2 the saber-clashing sounds are different from this game and ep.4-6? And I'm really tired of the current, high-pitched "FIIIIZZZ" - "ZZZIIIZZZ" - CRIIIZZHHHZZ" sounds.... It makes my head hurt really. So I'm thinking, wouldn't it be nice if someone decided to take pity on me, and make a mod where it replaced the usual saberclash sounds with those from episode 1 and 2: "The sound of wooden sticks being beaten together"-sorta sound. "CRACK" - "DUKHHH" AND SO ON... Just watch the Darth Maul fight again and you'll get the idea. I think Datheus mentioned that one could "simply grab a mic and record directly from the movies"... or something. Anyway, just a 'lil novelty idea for the mod people, if someone decided to take this up.

C'jais
I'm a bit confused.... I don't have experience with game coding, and was kinda hoping someone else would take this up.... Just to clarify: All I wanted was new saber - **clashing** sounds, not the igniting or humming.
Garik Loran
No problem. Yesterday I bought Ep 1 on DVD, there I sure will find a good sound.
Hoth
Great Garik! Can you email me at ttnsw@bigpond.com when you've done this? Thanks
C'jais
That sounds great! If you'd be so kind as to make this mod, please email me at cjais@hotmail.com if you have no intention of uploading it.
Garik Loran
ooookay. I took the best sounds I could get from SW Ep1, and it doesn't sound bad ingame. Download the new sounds here
Reiver
Cool! I think that what he's asking about is when they clash together, in the movie they make a THWACK! sound like wood on wood. But I do really like these ones better for turning on and stuff. 'Tis cool.
Garik Loran
Oh, hmmmm, yeah, seems he meant the clash sounds How could I get this so wrong?!!! I think I will add the clash to the sound pk3 as soon as I find a good one
Norin Radd
Did anyone notice the high screach Dooku's saber made when he ignited it in Episode II? The same sound is in Vader's saber in Episode V. That would be a great sound to have for the saber.
C'jais
Garik, your files were greatly appreciated, even though you got the idea a little wrong But, I feel really stupid right now: Where do I put those sound files? I've tried about every folder in my jk directory, and it still won't work!
Reiver
JKII/Gamedata/base As is for any other mod. I hope you get that Garik, I want it too.
Garik Loran
Ok, I haven't found the time to do it yet, BUT: I've seen a small mod at http://www.masassi.net that has all you want, I think. Go download it here
Samsagaz
lol, i was just about to tell you that I did that mod a week ago and submitted(spelling?) to massassi this morning; but the forums were down just a few hours ago. Anyway, enjoy my mod
Garik Loran
Then it's yours?! Goog job, the sounds are really cool. I use them and I'm really enjoying your mod.
Samsagaz
Thx, i was tired of the "FIZZZZ, ZIIIZZZHH" too, so I downloaded a sabers wav pack from http://www.theforce.net and did a little "cut&paste" work with a sound editor and then normalized all the saber sounds to the same volume. I havent played with the original sounds since then
Reiver
Ya, I just downloaded it from there, it's much, much better!!
C'jais
Cool, thanks man! And you too garik! Now, for installing the damn sucker.... LOL, this shouldn't be much of a problem.... Cheers all
Hoth
Yes, it is better but still too "hissy" with spark/electrical sounds during fighting. The only time we should hear the hissing noise is in saber locks. The rest of the sounds should be the saber swing noise ("hemmmmmmmmm") and the new "whack!" noise of sabers hitting each other that we have in this mod. Is it a big job to cut down on sparks/hissing sound and to add more of the "whack" sounds? Hoth
Samsagaz
The electrical sounds happens when the saber hit somebody, not when two sabers clash. I dont know what sound i could put there to replace it; i´ll look for saber-hitting-flesh sounds, hope i find something better.
Hoth
Thanks Sam. I'd prefer NO hissing/buzing electrical sounds if that's possible? Just the clash of sabers and the buzz of the saber? Sabers hitting flesh wouldn't make any noise. Besides, the green flash tells us when we hit.
Kagami
Oh man! I Love you guys! keep up the good work garik and sam and lets get that *WHACK* SOUND COminG!!!
Hoth
Samsagaz, also, is it possible to make every block/parry a light "whack" noise like in Phantom Menace?
C'jais
I'll just stop by to say the new sounds are absolutely amazing! If there was ever a reason to play 1.03 with all of its blocking, these new sounds are IT! And yeah, the saber-hitting-flesh sounds is just the same sound, and although it could get better and less irritating to my ears, I can live with it. ((If you want to improve it, you might want to record the sound when Maul gets sliced in half)). Since the sounds are louder as well now, I can more accurately hear when I hit something, even though the saber-hitting-wall-sound is a wee bit loud... Just my humble opinion, this stuff is fantastic! And it seems my "wood-on-wood"-analogy was way off, but hey - it sounds great.
