ok, I made my .efx file fine in EffectsEd, it shows up how I want it and everything and save it as eff1.efx under effects\purg\. Now, I make my fx_runner entity and put in fxFile then purg\eff1.efx. I compile the map and it doesn't show up at all, but the map (framerate)is slowed down a bit..

can anyone help me out?

thanks

Btw, does anybody know how to set up the damnest thing? EffectsED I mean. It asks me for game path duiring startup, and when I point it to my base dir it goes into infinite loop of popping up message boxes with "R_LoadImage:none blah-blah" error. The only way I can get rid of that is by closing the program thru Crtl+Alt+Del.

:(

Any ideas?

ok, well, you know when you double click on an unknown file type, and that screen with the program comes up? Put EffectsEd in there, and it'll open up the .efx files with EffectsEd.

I have to log off for the night, so I'll try and answer your questions tommorow.

if its a custom effect it will act like anything else custom you use for your maps... make sure you have a file called effects in your .pk3 place you effect in there with paths pointing correctly and it should work.. just like a custom texture... even if you have it pointing right and its not in your .pk3 it wont show...good luck.

Anyone got any ideas for makin a grapple rope efx. Ive been tryin with absolutly no luck at all. Cant figure out this editor, maybe someone would like to do it for me :)

It would need to be a cable/rope an have the ability to make a long trail. Not sure if this is even possible. But any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok, try associating the program with .efx file types then open a .efx file.

That gets rid of the "Continue recieving this message?" for me

Thad did the trick. Thanks man.
