Drakein
ok, I made my .efx file fine in EffectsEd, it shows up how I want it and everything and save it as eff1.efx under effects\purg\. Now, I make my fx_runner entity and put in fxFile then purg\eff1.efx. I compile the map and it doesn't show up at all, but the map (framerate)is slowed down a bit.. can anyone help me out? thanks
Grets Sirob
I wish I could use effectsed, I need an effect made for a ctf level I will be making *sigh*... :no wampa smily:mad: make one!: Roar!
sights0d
I would like to say that I have NO idea how that program works, but I salute you for your ability to use it, even if you haven't gotten it to work yet. I can barely map.
Xcom
Btw, does anybody know how to set up the damnest thing? EffectsED I mean. It asks me for game path duiring startup, and when I point it to my base dir it goes into infinite loop of popping up message boxes with "R_LoadImage:none blah-blah" error. The only way I can get rid of that is by closing the program thru Crtl+Alt+Del. Any ideas?
Grets Sirob
I get that too, could you answer for me too? :no wampa smily:mad:make one jk2.net!: Roar!
Drakein
actually, the way I get passed that is by pressing "ok" over and over on the popups for about 15 seconds.
Drakein
oh, and sights, it's not too hard to get your desired effect once you figure out what all the different values do.
Xcom
In my case it's saying "Continue recieving this message?" Yes/No. So, there is no "OK" and tried pressing both for as long as I could til I got "System out of resources" error. LOL.
Grets Sirob
Well, if you know how to do it, post some kind of tutorial type thing and tell us "idiots"(step-by-step) how to do it... :no wampa smily:mad: make one jk2.net!: Roar!
Drakein
I meant yes, oops. Hmm, system out of resources, eh? thats what happens when I push play too many times, and there are too many particles on the screen
Drakein
ok, try associating the program with .efx file types then open a .efx file. That gets rid of the "Continue recieving this message?" for me
Grets Sirob
"Assotiating"? And how do I do this? :no wampa smily:mad:make one jk2.net!: Roar!
Drakein
ok, well, you know when you double click on an unknown file type, and that screen with the program comes up? Put EffectsEd in there, and it'll open up the .efx files with EffectsEd. I have to log off for the night, so I'll try and answer your questions tommorow. yrean
if its a custom effect it will act like anything else custom you use for your maps... make sure you have a file called effects in your .pk3 place you effect in there with paths pointing correctly and it should work.. just like a custom texture... even if you have it pointing right and its not in your .pk3 it wont show...good luck.
