Lime-Light
huh. Some good points there. But you have to assume since there is a rebellion, there are poeple who are unsatisfied with the Empire. And in the special edition of RoTJ, you see everyone on many planets rejoicing and cheering. The reason Palpatine said, "The Republic is not what it once was. The Senate is full of greedy, squabbling delegates. There is no interest in the common good," and, "the bureaucrats are in charge now," is because he is trying to convince Padme to vote for him, so that he can "fix" everything. Plus, the ruling members of the empire are both sithlords, and there is no question thier motives are evil. The Empire is, like in countless other American literature and movies, a form of communism. Not that communism is all that bad, but just like the USSR and China, where the government is plagued with rulers like Stalin, the emporer is evil and twisted, so in turn, so is the Empire. What did interest me about the article is that it is totally true that the Rebelion was never really displayed as having any governing abilities, they were just a band of warriors. Yet, in RoTJ, you see right before the battle of Endor, that there is a leader, Mon Mothma, not just a military lead, Akbar. This leads me to assume that in that stage in the game, the Rebellion has planets under its control (Calamari for one), and with such a large fleet, they had more. And with the huge celebration after the Empires defeat, you have to assume the Rebellion had support from many other panents (important ones too) including Coruscant. If you actually read all that, I'd be happily surprised.
Jizuko
I read it ... and I agree. The dark side will do anything to convince people, lying included.
ET Warrior
I dont agree that the empire was communist.......it was a dictatorship, but communism has nothing to do with government, communism is an economic system, and the empire did not use communism, because they were very much capitalistic, they had money, and people with different jobs were paid differently, and not everyone was given the same amount of things.......
