thx alot those are great i have one problem though i can'r get that rounded curve shape on the back part the the lasers

               ______
              /
---------------
'''''''''''''''
              \______

i can't make a rounded slope if i use a patch mesh the vertexs won't line up right to my other shape even if i move the vertexes around it won't line up right

if you mean you cant get it to line up with the front section of the gun (the barrel bit) then why not make the barrel a patch too? its the kind of place a patch would look very good with the smooth curve.

btw, anyone know what the deal is with texturing patch meshes? half of the surface propertie buttons dont work with my patches and its starting to bug the hell out of me.

ok, i see the problem know, the only thing i can think of is to make all the bits between the two support blocks out of patches.

I've been having similar problems getting patches to match up with the surrounding brush mesh on my falcon, if you do find a solution, let me know, would be most useful.

(one thought that just occured to me, if the number of segments in the patch matched the number of faces on the brush then there would be the right number of vertices to be able to line it up properly, worth a try at least.)

If you're using gtkradiant then I believe you have to press shift+s for the patch mesh surface inspector.

And VIO, you might need to just add more patch points to your patch meshes, just insert rows and insert columns and decrease your grid size to 1 if necessary to get things lined up right. A lot of the work i've been doing with the Slave 1 has been using grid 1. Those patches are a pain in the @$$ sometimes.

VIO, you might want to try what i'm doing for my Slave 1 prefab. I suck a making textures too, so I found this really nice model of the Slave 1 done in 3DSMax, so I downloaded it and got all the textures for that, then I contacted the guy who made the model and got permission from him to use his textures. I'm sure there's a snowspeeder model or 2 online somewhere, just do a search for one.
