The movie doesn't really explain that MotionMan, there is no indication that Vader knows Luke is his son in SW4, you find out in SW5 when Vader tells Luke.

ET Worrior is right, he MUST know his children, Vader probably didn't see them as a threat, until Vader met Like once in the Emperial base while saving Leia, and Luke shoots at him, and Vader blocks it, which suprises Han, Leia and Luke, but Vader seems a bit suprised, he must have sensed Luke's force, as Vader could have killed them there instently with a throught grap.

The second time Vader senses Luke, is during the Death Star distruction scene, when Vader in his customised cool Tie Fighter trying to shoot the X-Wing Luke is in, but seems not be able to kill him, and Vader says: "The force is great in this one.".

So he must have known, and maybe R2D2 were trying to get to Luke, as they have been within the movies since EP1, they know all, that is probably why they even are with Princess Leia and in are accepted as one of the group of heros.

You know Mez......i dont understand half of the stuff that you say......it's all so confusing....But i dont think Vader has any idea that luke had a twin sister....because in ROTJ when vader is looking into Lukes thoughts because luke is hiding he says "your feelings betray you, your thoughts dwell on your friends and ........sister....."So you have a twin sister, obiwan was wise to hide her from me" And Vader was just about to shoot luke on the death star when Han came in to save him.....you know...perhaps you should watch all the OT in order sometime soon.....so that you don't get so confused about this.

True, i should, but then again, most people don't have such a good memory as you do ET Warrior,

You also just remembered to mention that Vader said this to Luke.

So Vader did not know of his childrens excistents, he either was not present at the birth of his children, or Anakin thought or saw them die in an explosion.

Though it's not stated in any of the movies (at least not yet, since the pivotal point could very likely happen in Ep III), the general history was that Anakin wasn't present during the birth of his children (iirc, think this was stated in The Magic of the Myth). I know that Padme is supposed to be pregnant during ep III. Whether Anakin was around to know she was pregnant is unknown. It could be he knows of the children but then witnesses (or is told about) their "death", which might the final straw that turns him over to the Dark Side. Given that Obiwan took steps to hide his children--or at least Leia, I'm not sure placing Luke in the care of his step-family would constitute "hiding"--it seems apparent that Anakin was well on his way to being Vader at the time of their birth. Guess we'll just have to wait til Ep III to find out if Anakin had any idea that Padme was pregnant...

As ET Warrior stated, Darth never knows who his children are, even though it doesn't make any sense we have to wait until EP3 as Kryllith said.

My personnal point of view, I don't really care, as I want to know now. I hope George is smarter, and doesn't use the cliche of, I thought they died routine, and come up with something better, such as the accident occured to Anakin, caused him to lose part of his memory.

No wait, the Sith Lord erases hi memory, as Anakin still is against the Sith, and with this is tricked into becoming Darth Vader, the servent of Sith Lord Sidius. So that the SW4-6 are based on Anakin remembering, and at ROTJ he actually regains his memory, then remembers the deads of the Sith Lord, and kills him.

NO, NO, NO, that is REAL BAD, I stick to the I thought they were dead theory, MUCH better then mine, but it seems more George like to come up with a story similar to mine, as George normally wants to bring suprises, such as inventing I am your father idea, ehich can be awarded the same price as I am Spartecus, and then killing of the hero.

Also I wouldn't base my theories, such as Vader knowing about his children or not, on the SW4-6 trilogy. This is as you know in SW4, Obi Wan says that Darth killed Luke's father, which he ment in a way that Anakin changed and his spirit was killed and replaced by Darth.

So it is not a good idea to quote George's script of the old SW, as he will make lots of twist in the story, as he did for Monkey Island, giving you, you could say, wrong information, as in real life people don't tell you everything as you need not to know, or they lia, as Count Dooku does to Obi Wan.
