Rassick
Think about it...Obi-Wan's Form III lightsaber technique is impossible to penetrate (the only reason Dooku got him is because he tricked him) and had he not sacrificed himself so Luke could get away, Vader would probably never have killed him. Ben was only dueling Vader to distract him and the stormtroopers long enough for Luke and the heroes to escape. Had that not been the case, I think Ben could have won that fight. mez1109
Yes he could have killed Vader, he just stopped fighting.
Rassick
All right! Someone who agrees with me. Another reason he probably didn't kill Vader is because he knew Luke would make him redeem himself, and he did.
mez1109
He didn't want Vader to take Luke onto the Dark side at an early stage, as Like could not battle him yet
DarthVenom
Yea i think he could've killed Vador, or Vador may have won anyway - they were very closely matched.... He sacficed himself to help Luke and to demonstrate the power of the force to him.. (he knew he would dissapear)
MotionMan
If Obi wan tells Luke that all the jedi were killed by darth vader, it is obvious Vader has become very powerfull by ep.3. He is in fact the chosen one and his midiclorian count is through the roof. About Ben beating vader is is highly unlikely. Vader is too powerfull by then and obi wan is too old. Obi wan knew he would be defeated , so he gave up and made himself 1 with the force. Before he dies he gives luke a look with a smirk, like "I know what I must do". He knew that Vader was going to defeat him. But if he became 1 with the force he would still have a chance of helping out Luke though advise in spirit form. We will see how obi wan manages to defeat anakin in ep3. Like I said before , I think this will be acomplished by obi wan outsmarting anakin somehow. Rassick
Yoda could probably have whooped Vader. The amount of midichlorians doesn't matter--it's how well you can control them that counts.
DarthVenom
Vader in his suit was limited by his mechanical arms and legs, but without these restrictions, i.e. if he had his own body complete at the time of EPIV, i think he would have been a match for Yoda.. sadly thats 1 fight we'll never see.. HellFyre69
nope.. I dun think obi had a chance against vader... And yes I do think that yoda could have owned vader without n1 problem.. but why he didnt tho? maybe b/c he was afraid of sidious or sumthing? Rajess MoDuron
I think that posts like this will become irrelevant when Episode 3 comes out, and we find out how badass Vader is.
mez1109
Obi Wan achieved the next stage of a Jedi, and became one with the force. Vader never killed him, so he could have killed Vader, as he was more powerful.
ET Warrior
I dont think jedi that have joined with the force are able to kill things.....it wouldn't be quite.....right, you know? As the force creates life, so if you join with the force, i don't think you can take life away.
Norin Radd
I believe that Ben could have. No one will dispute that Vader is strong with the force, but he was the master in his own mind. Ben however, sacrificed himself to allow Luke to escape. He knew in his mind that it was for Luke to confront and defeat Vader, so his purpose had been served. Becoming one with the force was his desire.
mez1109
In EP3, Obi Wan and Anakin will definately cross light sabers. Obi might be the only person near enough to a father Anakin has, but for this same reason of fatherly reponsability, Obi will try to kill Anakin as soon as he shows his dark side fully, to stop future pain and suffering for Anakin. Rassick
So Episode 3 is really the reverse of the OT: -The father tries to save the son -Anakin accepts Palpatine's enticement to the dark side -The son is the one who dies

I dont think the fight vs. Obi-wan and anakin in ep.3 will be about Obi-wan trying to kill Anakin. In fact I think Obi-wan will be forced to fight Anakin. Anakin will be the one trying to dispose of Obi wan for whatever reason we dont know yet.
ET Warrior
Anakin's just a little **** isn't he?
mez1109
If Anakin is trying to become more poerful within the force, so that he can save people, how come he kill so many people? Anakin has a few screws loose, most Sith Lords want to have power, be above the Jedi Council, Anakin is a mad man on the loose.
covenant_bad
I also heard that obi-wan's going to be challanged by Anakin who has started to explore the darkside is sick of old man bens condecending tone (''stupid padawan put your lightstick away!'') but even though anakin has grown really powerful obi-wan beats him and mortally injuring him. Makin way for darth V
