So, Jedi_Monk, are you saying you have something to prove that Han isn't an ex-imperial, or that you just think that Han isn't an ex-imperial?

There's really more evidence pointing to the idea that he is.

OK for all of you people that wanted to know about Han: According to the Han Solo Trilogy written by A.C. Crispin, Han joined the Imperial Academy and became a full lieutenant before he was expelled. Han saved Chewie from another officer that was going to either kill him/or whip him. Chewie was a slave on work detail and since Han had already had a soft spot for furred creatures *Dewlanna, his conscience kicked in and he saved him. Also the pants that Han wears ARE military style, he refers to them as his military style trousers with the CORELLIAN BLOOD STRIPE. It is the yellow or red broken band that runs down the sides of his pants. That is a military decoration he received for doing some unamed thing in Corellia. Hopefully this clears up any questions you may have about Han...

We already knew that, but we were trying to see if we can get actual facts about Han being in Ep.3. Not EU stuff.

Thanks for the info though.

[EU]

I think I heard a long time ago that Solo and Fett were involved in one of the many races that Solo competed in. Fett began to gain the upper hand and Solo knocked him off course or did something cheap which caused Fett to lose and pick up some of his scars...

[/EU]

But then, that is just EU... or maybe I dreamt it.... Hrm.. Maybe it was from those books about Jacen and Jaina Solo... I know there was one where they meet/were caught by Boba Fett and I think perhaps that's where that story was told.

Hmmm....silly, this debate is.....:D No evidence in any of the movies points to Han ever serving in the imperial navy, military, etc. Nor does it say that Han ever saved Chewie from anything....all that it shows is that the two are very good friends. who happen to be very good smugglers. Knowing tricks about fooling imperials is one thing that a good smuggler should know, or else said smuggler will end up mining spice on kessel!

Hey that story you were referring to about Han was actually incorrect. The [EU] states that Han was swoop racing Dengar and Han's swoop crashed on top of Dengar's causing him to lose control and crash onto crystal formations, which resulted in his scarring and amongst other things. Boba got all of his scars and pains and other things from being digested in the sarlacc.

I knew it was one of the bounty hunters... thanx for clearing that up. But I was referring to other scars that Fett would have. Even Jango had scars under his mask. Boba probably masked his face for several reasons as well..

When did this supposidely happen? Chewie appears quite prominently in the Training and Wookie campaigns of Galactic Battlegrounds, which weren't released that long ago (maybe a year?).

Is Galactic Battlegrounds even that old? I don't really see how he could lose the rights to Chewbacca unless Lucas didn't create the character. Hasbro is still selling Chewbacca figures under the Star Wars tag and I think those have to run by LFC first... so why/how did he lose the rights?

Posted

and then they released the expansion to Galactic battlegrounds....and wookies are still in it..........i see no possible way that you could lose rights to your own character.......

Why would Lucas have lost the rights to Chewie when he was the one who created him? Anything and everything involving Star Wars has to go back Lucas, for his approval. So he still has rights, otherwise ppl could just do whatever they wanted. Thats why R.A. Salvatore had to ask Lucas if it was ok to kill him off in the [EU].

Well it wouldn't be the first time someone lost the rights to something they created (it happens to songwriters quite often). But Lucas is known for keeping fairly firm control over Star Wars, so I find it highly unlikely that he would have lost the rights to a character, especially to one as pivotal as Chewbacca.

Ahh but we are the good guys. We are the the voice of reason. It was sort of a reverse psychology tactic for the untrained eye.:D

I have heard it before. And I checked it. AND I dind'nt found it. I think it appeared somewhere, but not Obi-Wan tellimg Luke he was owen's brother, but Luke supposing that or thinking an explanation.*

What happens in AOC was obvius, i always believed Anakin was Owen's brother-step brother.

*if it appears, tell me chapter-scene to check it.(again)

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi by James Kahn. The very end of Chapter 3 when Obi-Wan's spirit is talking to Luke on Dagobah. It's on page 66 in my copy (Del Rey trade paperback re-released for the SEs). Here's the passage:

...So I took you to live with my brother Owen, on Tatooine... and your mother took Leia to live as the daughter of Senator Organa, on Alderaan.

So there you have it; the novelizations are unrelyable.

And believe me, the novelizations (from George Lucas script, And even A new Hope was wrote by Lucas himself) ARE canon, not EU.

No, the ANH novelization was ghostwriten by Alan Dean Foster. Anyway, yes, the scripts are canon--but the books only use the scripts as a framework. The novelist adds in many things, names, backgrounds, memories and thoughts... all these little things and many of them not thought up by Lucas. Again, I use this analogy: are the Left Behind books Biblical canon just because they use as their framework the Book of Revelation? Of course not!

I dont know about Han being an Imperial but in the Star Wars Visual Dictionary it mentions Han saving Chewie from slavery and then becoming the recipient of a Wookie life debt.

I dont know whether the book refers to just the movies, but if it does then it should be treateed as canon, right?
