Ok, I just noticed this for the first time yesterday. But in your prefabs folder there's a bunch of .map files already there. What most of them are, is ships and other .md3's in clip texture form. In other words, if your using the x-wing model, then just load up the xwing.map from the prefabs folder and you've got a cilp texture prefab of the xwing that matches perfectly with the model.

 

Maybe most of you already know about this, but I just saw it yesterday for the first time. I'm assuming they came with one of the releases of the editing tools but I don't know which one.

 

I don't think everyone knows about this because i've seen a couple of post where people were talking about heving to make the clip texture prefabs themselves, well this will definitely save a lot of time when dealing with at least the most common models.
