biggity
Hi, I don't claim to be a master at networking but I have a BEFSR41 router with the latest firmware and I hope this helps: Under Advanced in the router setup menu you need to go to the Forwarding tab. Here you need to enter the port range of 27999 to 29000 for both TCP and UDP. Make sure you put in the last 3 digits of the machine that will be hosting the game and enable it. Apply settings and you should be good to go. Now go into JKII and host a game. This is better than using DMZ, and I usually disable those ports when I am not playing. This is what works for me and I hope it works for you.
Andy867
For step by step to access everything, and for those who changed the built-in gateway(like myself) go to start -> run -> and type in "cmd" without quotations for those with XP and type command for those win Win9X or ME. then type ipconfig /all or winipcfg for those not using WIN XP. look for where it says gateway... that is the address used to access the router. Then also write down the ip address listed for you will need this as well in the near future. exit out of the command prompt by typing exit... or close it down normally. then open up a web browser, and type in your gateway #... this will ask you for a login name and password.. leave the username spot blank, but under password, type admin . this will then open the features to the router. then go to advanced, and under filters, there should be an option at the bottom that says BLOCK WAN REQUEST... make sure that is DISABLED then click apply. then go to forwarding, and like the other guy said, typ anything from 27999 ~ 29000...for me I have it as 28070 ~ 28073 and 28080 to 28099... and then type in your ip that you jotted down earlier into the slot where it lists the rest of your ip... then click apply.. you need to make sure to click apply for every change you make on a page, or it won't be applied to that setting. then if you want, you cna also go under DMZ, though most people prefer not to, and type the last 3 digits on your ip address there as well and click apply and you will be set. hope that helps!!! sshawk
ok ive goten there so far. Now under fowarding do i check the boxes that say enable? Protocal TCP,? Protocal UDP?
Andy867
SShawk, for the UDP/TCP, there should be an option for BOTH, which you will want... that allows your server to be posted in-game, as well as on Gamespy websites, as well as other sources, I think. But I do know it does need to be BOTH... for the filter page, the bottom should read SPI : Enable ODisable Block WAN Request: Enable ODisable Multicast Pass Through: OEnable Disable IPSec Pass Through: OEnable Disable PPTP Pass Through: OEnable Disable Remote Management: Enable ODisable Remote Upgrade: Enable ODisable MTU: Enable ODisable Hope that Helps! -Andy867
sshawk
ok i appreciate the helkp but im still having touble let me explain. I go to advanced then fowarding. Now in fowarding it says Customized applications and in that box i put JK2MP. Next to there it says EXT. Port 28070 to 28070. Then next to that its says TCP and UDP which i have checked. Then ip address is were i would type in my ip address that a box that says enable which is checked is this all correct?
biggity
Looks like you are almost there, except you only have one port open instead of a range. What I mean is, you wrote that you have "28070 to 28070" but it SHOULD say "27999 to 29000". If you change to that it seems that you will be fine.
