MatrixCPA
Are you using the jk2mp.exe to host the server or the dedicated server binary? If you're using the jk2mp.exe, you might want to (also) post in the tech help forum for faster assistance. I don't do windows--thank God.

MatrixCPA
The thing what came with? You'd need to have downloaded the server binaries separately--unless they recently changed the game distribution (which is possible but unlikely). You might want to make sure you have the latest version (v1.03a) as well. It could be a bug that was fixed later.

alienprotein
I have an XP server running, and need more information on this. Exactly how are you going about starting the server? Are you entering Server.cfg from the Ded Server Console? Try Creating an Icon that has the following (Modify this to suit your setup) C:\jk2\GameData\jk2mp.exe +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 28070 +set net_ip 10.0.0.1 +set net_noipx +exec server.cfg, then try to launch the server. This is how I launch a dedicated server on the XP box, and it works like a champ. Note: You may or may not want to use +set net_noipx if you are on a Netware network. But I recomed it if no Novell is used.

MatrixCPA
I've had him create a shortcut minus a few of the specifics and the problem seems to be at the point the server.cfg is executed. I had him use Jedi Runner to create a config and it would skill die. After that I had him startup without the server.cfg and had him execute a map command directly through the console and it died again. I have a feeling that either the folder structure isn't right (although I had him try putting the server binary in the gamedata folder and that still produced the same error) or it's an OS problem. He's using v1.03a of the server binary and says he has all 3 pk3 files in place. There doesn't appear to be any error messages produced in the console itself. Good luck. TheAphextwin
Sounds like an OS issue to me
alienprotein
Yeah it sounds like all should work fine. Perhaps there is a service that is not running. Does the issue occur with say plan old 1.03? Have you re-downloaded the binary and tried again? Will the server start if you start it through the GUI, and not Jedi Runner? i.e. Launching through the game. This is real odd. I cant imagine this being an OS issue. But what can I say we are talking about a MicroShaft Product. I may be mistaken, but I don’t recall having seen any other threads about Ded server not running on XP.
