PLEASE help! Can't run the game! Desperate!

This is strange. I downloaded the demo a few months ago, and it worked. Than last week it stopped working, but I figured whatever. I bought the game yesterday and neither it or the demo will work. They crash before I even hit a menu. I tried running safe mode, I tried switching Windows to safe mode, I tried ALL troubleshooting tips (switching to lower res, switching to 16 color, reinstalling, reinstalling direct x, etc...) I can't figure out what's wrong. The worst part is I know my system can run the game! It's ran it before and it passed all diagnostic tests! I can't figure what on my system may have changed, there was definately no hardware changes, and software ones must have been minor.

 

Here's my system:

 

PIII 550

319 megs of ram (odd number I know)

8x DVD ROM

Windows 98 SE

NVidia GeForce 2 MX 64 megs

still a gig left of hard drive space after install

 

Someone please, PLEASE help me! I don't want to have to return this game, if I even can!

Sorry to say this but since the game is open they wont take it back... but the good news is a lot of us have troubles and over time the problems are fixed I had to wait 1-2 weeks before I got to play it for the first time... Is there an error message that displays when it crashs or does it just drop out of the program completely???

I know this has worked for some of us, but check to see if you have EAX enabled in the sound menu. Make sure that it is DISABLED!

There's no error message, I get blank screen the second I try to run it, after that little code thing comes up. I never even see menu.
