Kaito Fett Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 I am 31 I have a theory on why so many people hate jar jar and its already been mentioned. After the first screening of Ep 1 with all the famous stars and bigger hollywood types, they all came out and a few got interviewed and said how they hated jar jar so much but all in all it was a great film. Now the viewers of these interviews cant think for themselves so they go to see the film with this bias already in the mind. Then they come out saying the samething and their friends cant think for themselves either. Basically most of scoiety cant think for themselves and let other make their opinions for them. I know this because from the private screening to the public screening everyone was saying how jar jar was stupid and needs to be cut out. Yet most people hadnt seen it yet and already they were forming opinions. As for me I have a habit and not watching or viewing or reading any reviews, interviews, or critiques on a movie I really want to see. So I went to it with a clear head. And have noticed this trend that the ones that went to see it without viewing all the pre release actually liked jar jar. While the ones that saw all this stuff hate jar jar. So makes me wonder since I am the minority just how much of the world really is being told what to think and do. Kaito Fett

shidobu Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 I think people disliked JarJar because the comic relief which he provided was too slapstick and detracted from teh other things that were going on in the scene. The same holds true for c-3po in ep II. In the OT though, I found C-3PO to be a good foil for R2-D2 [who I think counts as a char w/ a personality] The juxtaposition there provided subtle, yet effective comic relief.
