Irishman26
i've read alot about people complaining about yoda being cg in ep2, but he looked better in cg, he was able 2 show emotion that the puppets could never show, the only time cg has looked fake was jar jar(ugggghhhhh) on tatooine. he didn't look dried out at all. shidobu
I agree. I liked the ep II Yoda. I think people dislike it more in principle than because it is actually inferior.
Kyle d'Tana
IO agree too! but frank oz animated yoda RELLY good!!!!
covenant_bad
The cg Yoda was obviously the next step Lucas had to take not only to show hes 'deep meaningful' feelings but how du think a puppet could fight Dooku? lol
Jaster21801
I agree as well. I thought it was incredible that all of the clonetroopers were cg. The only thing that stopped the illusion, personally, was the reek when Anakin gets on... It didn't look right to me.
MotionMan
I dont think all of the clonetroopers were Computer generated. What about the close up ones. Like the ones in the ships with Yoda or the Pilot flying the ship that was chasing Dooku? The one that fell with Padame? Mabe the ones were there were hundreds or thousands of them but not the close up ones. Me thinks.
Jaster21801
Of course now that I need it I can't find it... I thought it was on starwars.com but I guess not. Anyway, what I read about was that not a single actor was used for the clones. No full-sized armor was even sculpted. I'll post a link if I ever find the place again. In regards to the scene where Padme is in the sand, she gets up on her own. If the troop was an actor, he probably would have helped her up unless this was part of Lucas' "Padme is strong" idea. ET Warrior
Tis true, and the link is somewhere on theforce.net i believe. Not a single actor put on a piece of armor to portray the clone troopers.
MotionMan
If thats true then, the CG in AOTC are better than I already thought they were. Amazing!

I believe CG can be excellent in certain situations, while a little too mediocre in others. CG is excellent for stuff like ships and thousands of Clonetroopers and lighsabre animations, but sometimes a puppet is just more enjoyable and believable. For example, I found the puppet Jabba in the OT to be MUCH more repulsive than the CG Jabba. I wish they sculpted at least a few Clonetrooper suits for some actors to wear. It looks a little more realistic then. I also miss some of the toy ship models that they used for the OT. However, overall the CG is excellent and I really enjoy it. Jedi_Monk
Just because they use a lot of CG and computer editing doesn't mean they've completely done away with models... I know that most of the background environments that were put behind the bluescreen were actual physical models (the Jedi library, for instance). ET Warrior
The ROTJ Jabba was supposed to be more slimy and disgusting than the ANH one. He was older, fatter, and couldn't take care of himself. we see in ep 1 and 4 that he was able to move around under his own power, but in ROTJ he was too fat to even move! Puppets do have an advantage, though. I imagine it would be easier to act when you have can SEE Yoda moving around and what he'll be doing..as opposed to just kind of knowing that's where he WILL be. Jaster21801
I think Jackson mentioned that with the scene where he talks with Yoda in the corridor. He said it was hard to do. Have to make sure you look in the right place and stuff...
ET Warrior
I can imagine.......Is uber difficult in plays when whoever you act with is missing, and somebody just reads the lines.......so confused you get.......(and you feel silly acting towards nothing....) Jaster21801
heh.. think about how stupid Portman probably felt when she had to get up from the sand and talk to/yell at air... heh... I commend actors/actresses who can pull that off in a convincing manner
covenant_bad
Or when Portman had to run on a conveyor belt diving and backstepping infront of a blue screen for the driod factory scene
