GB/CC vs. FOCOM

I tried searching forum for Force Commander but couldn't.

Has this one been discussed: GB/CC vs. FOCOM ? If so apologies......

I like them both, in particular their storylines are good and both are/were very addictive.

When Focom came out it received good reviews (PC Gamer in UK gave it about 90% from memory) but since then the game has been trashed.........However, I still think its a tad better than GB/CC because the missions are not as repetitive and I liked the game's approach to RTS and the 3D side of it too. Cut scenes are always a bonus as well.................

I'm currently playing CC :)

They are both good but FoCom doesn't have good graphics. I can hear you saying that it's in 3-D and that you can do anything you want with the camera. But have a good look at the At-At, At-St and ... well everything! and you will see how sucky the graphics are. StormTroops don't walk, they slide and ... well everything actually slide...

I think that SWGB : CC is a much better game. Even if it's not in 3-D, the graphics are really good.

It's funny what a couple of years can do to a game. PC Gamer UK slate FC now.

Really, it is a truely awful piece of gaming. It might have some nice story/campaign ideas but thats where it all ends.

It reminds me of a game called Warzone 2100 which had better 3D graphics without the need for a massive increase in your computer specs (back then anyway).

FC suffers from bad graphics and an awful interface. SWGB offers battling on a larger scale and without the lag that FC produced.

SWGB vs FC

1-0 Graphics

2-1 Sound

4-0 Interface

8-0 Playabilty

9-0 Multiplayer fun

3-0 Units & Heroes

Overall

SWGB 27 - 1 FC

Personally, I think that RTS games SHOULD be 2-D, like Battlegrounds. I think it makes it easier to control and easier to determine where things are in relation to each other....something that got a little tricky in Force Comm somtimes. I alos like the resource maangement angle of Battlegrounds far better than the battle-focused Force Comm. Battlegrounds also has far more options and obviously far more civs. Only two in Force Comm was pretty lame, especially as the units kind of sucked sometimes. It wasn't as horrible a game as people make it out to be, but I lost interest in it pretty quickly and agree that Battlegrounds is a game with staying power.
