Lord Sokar
My server is a 1.02 box. cv_MaxRate is set to 7000 (about to change to 8000), circuit is Ifidel (T1). Maxplayers is set to 12. Despite the fact that most people are achieving pings of around 50ms, the still complain that they are lagging! In fact, some of them look like a slide show. The only thing I can think of is increasing the MaxRate cvar to 8000. Anyone else got some suggestions? Thanx.
MatrixCPA
What do you have your sv_maxfps set to? It should be set to 20. On another note, realize that low fps on the client side can be due to lower end hardware or just setting the eye candy too high for what equipment they do have. Lord Sokar
Hmmm... I do not have the sv_maxfps cvar set to anything at all (in my universal settings), although I just increased the sv_maxrate to 8000. This is a new one on me. Here is my config. Hell, who knows what else is screwed, but you're the man, so you tell me. // Server Config seta sv_hostname "NuclearFallout:Netu | Saber Only - 1.02c" seta g_motd "Welcome to [szg] Sokar's Place" rconpassword ----- // Universal Configs set sv_maxclients 12 set sv_allowdownload 1 set g_inactivity 0 set sv_maxRate 8000 set sv_floodProtect 1 set g_allowvote 0 //set g_gametype 5 //set timelimit 20 //set fraglimit 100 //set capturelimit 50 //set g_weaponDisable 65531 //set g_forcePowerDisable 32765 //set g_maxForceRank 7 set g_privateDuel 1 set g_saberLock 1 set g_dismember 0 set g_filterban 1 set g_automapcycle 0 //Map Rotation set bespin "set g_gametype 5; set g_forcedisable 32765; set g_weapondisable 65531; set fraglimit 100; set timelimit 20; map ffa_bespin; set nextmap vstr streets" set streets "set g_gametype 0; set g_forcedisable 32765; set g_weapondisable 65531; set fraglimit 100; set timelimit 20; map ffa_ns_streets; set nextmap vstr hideout" set hideout "set g_gametype 5; set g_forcedisable 0; set g_maxforcerank 4; set g_weapondisable 65531; set fraglimit 100; set timelimit 20; map ffa_ns_hideout; set nextmap vstr deathstar" set deathstar "set g_gametype 0; set g_forcedisable 0; set g_maxforcerank 4; set g_weapondisable 65531; set fraglimit 100; set timelimit 20; map ffa_deathstar; set nextmap vstr bay" set bay "set g_gametype 0; set g_forcedisable 32765; set g_weapondisable 65531; set fraglimit 100; set timelimit 20; map duel_bay;set nextmap vstr ctf" set ctf "set g_gametype 7; set g_forcedisable 0; set g_maxforcerank 6; set g_weapondisable 0; set fraglimit 100; set timelimit 20;set capturelimit 20; map ctf_imperial; set nextmap vstr bespin" vstr bespin
MatrixCPA
You might take a peek at your jk2mpconfig.cfg and see if there's any "leftovers" in there. The server frequently archives settings you've used in there and will continue to use them until removed or replaced.
Zeke2k1
Honestly it may have nothing to do with the maxrate setting. I have mine set to 3000 and set fps to 15, no lag... and thats on a cable line. Sure... ocassionally i get a dsl client that will connect to my cable and get 100+ pings but thats normal i suppose. I run duel and ffa ded servers on the same box and its only an Athlon 750 with 320 sdram on win2k adv. server. Its really a dream... you might try another OS also... sometimes that can have great effects on the apps you run. By the way its a 1.5mb cable line. Hope this helps a little.
