Stupid Question, cant figure out how to repower shields or use keys in the level

I know im a tard but I cant use keys or power my shield on the first level of Outcast II

No Biggie Dude, everyone was a noob at first. Once u get a key from 1 of the commanders dude there will be a silver circle thing by a door. just go up to it and press "E" [use key]. Your shield is on automatically. If you find a retangualr box thing with green flashing lights. Go by it and hold " E" it will raise your shields yo around 100.
