SP won't start.

I am trying to start an SP game, and it won't start. This error message pops up.

 

ERROR: filename length > MAX_QPATH ( strlen(Program Files/LucasArts/Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast/GameData/base/levelshots/) = 78)

 

I reinstalled the game, twice. It still does this.

 

It was working before, and now it isn't.

yeah mine also says ----- FS_Startup -----

. i've had this games for about two - three months and i've beaten the whole thing. and sudden now this happens and i can't get it to start. and now i need ur help. and for the ppl that think they kno everything "ragedesigns" my ram is above minimum requirement so don't say ****. (i sent a mail to lucasarts in ca so i hope to get a reply soon and i'll help yall out unless u can help me first)

I doubt that you even have the reactor map because of your error message.

To remove the map or the mod go to the Gamedata\base directory and look for reactor.pk3 and enhancedsabers.pk3 .

you kno what your rite. i don't have the reactor level and i have no enhanced sabers. and i looked in gamedata/base. there are only two things. one says "assets0.pk3 and the other is assets1.pk3. thanks for your help but i still have a problem. so now what do i do?

I had the very same error that read

 

JK2: v1.03 win-x86

Initialising zone memory .....

----- FS_Startup -----

My fix was to rename the enhancedsabers.pk3 file only when I want to paly single. And change it back when you want to paly on line. I thought perhaps the pathname was too long. So I uninstalled the game from program files and put it on my C drive under JK2. But that did not correct the problem. It started happening againwith yet another pk3 file named . Seems each time you download a new pk3 file, you run the chance of that file being too long as well. So I found the long file and renamed that also. And that worked. Just take notice of which ones are new when you start having this problem. And I hope JK2 will find a fix for this problem because I see where many other people have had this same problem. Like I said, you don't have to remove it, just rename it and change it back when you want to. If you do not have the enhancedsabers file, you can bet it is a different file. You just have to play with it to find out which one it is.

These errors are caused by too long paths within a pk3 file (there are directories in the pk3 files) .

Instead of renaming the enhancedsabers file every time you want to play sp you can create a folder named Enhanced Sabers in your gamedata directory . Put the enhancedsabers.pk3 in this folder and you can load the mod in the mp mod menu.

ok wait a sec. you guys keep talkin about the enhanced saber files and some other stuff. what u have to understand is that i don't have one. i never installed anything into the game. i never added levels, i never modified anything, and i didn't add anything from the outside into the game.( if u guys read this please "IM" me at Azn Fast LIfe123 because this takes to long. it would be faster to talk on "IM" so please "IM" me so i can get this fixed. thanks)
