Actually, it's only going to be about 6 months... which is actually fairly decent when you consider how long it took TPM to get on video. As for why it takes so long... I imagine it might have to do with worldwide releases. In some cases the movie isn't even in theatres until a month or so after it's initial release in the states. So take the latest theatre release, toss in the fact that it usually plays around in the theatres for 2 or 3 months, then in "dollar-theatres" for perhaps another month (depending on how big the theatre) is, and you've got a bit of a reason why the transition takes so long. Besides that, some DVD's include a fair bit of new material which may not even be created until after the movie has been in theatres for a while...

or it might be money or dvd or video rules as you cant send a filmout to the cinemas and then bring it out on video straight awaay as that woulndnt be fair to other movies
