Help With Grates In SP...

This may sound newbieish but for some reason I'm having a tough time making breakable grates.

 

OK, when I make the grate I just make a brush add the grate texture, give it the "func_breakable" function.

 

In the game, when it breaks, chunks of rocks fly everywhere, how do I make it break normally like the way grates break in the SP levels that came with JK2 and, for some reason the grate flashes black and it looks completely distorted.

 

Why is that happening and how do i set the breaking function correctly?

 

Am I doing wrong completely??

Here's how to do it from the start.

 

Make a brush, texture it with caulk. Then select ONE side and texture that with the grate (CTRL-SHIFT or something to select one surface).

 

Then make it a func_breakable. Now bring up the entity window by hitting N. Add the key of MATERIAL and a value of 12. Just do this by entering the key and value fields and hit enter on them both.

 

That should work.

How do you select only one side of the brush (More Newbish) lol, sorry for all my stupid questions. :(

Yeah, I already told you that. Perhaps if you read the words instead of skimming them you'd pick up the extremely obvious detail.

Thanks, everything works except the MATERIAL key and 12 value, it still breaks in big chunks. :(
