Since you have a network, chances are you use a proxy protocol through a router or switch to connect to the internet. Since both devices usually come with internal firewalls, you will have to either: a) Configure your router to "dumb" mode (basically, so it's off), and configure your proxy to allow your computer to connect directly to the internet..... or b) Disable the router, connect your computer directly to your internet jack, and try to disable proxy with WinIPConfig (Start->Run->type "winipconfig" in the prompt).
