Need help at Doom Detention

I think I'm almost to the end of the game. I'm at the part where I have to destroy the shield generators at the Doom Detention. I've already rescued Jan and I am now at the part where the shields are. I've detroyed the red notches that protect the glowing blue bars. Now I seem to be stuck.

 

Where do I go next? Can anyone Pleeeaaaase help. Did I skip a step? I'm real anxious to get past this level.

the red things just created a force field around the pipes. once you destroy those you need to destroy the pipes.

I believe I am stuck in the same place that the thread speaks of. and I have been feeling as though I was getting close. It is good to know there is still lots of action left.
