Chiles4
Check it out here. Is this going to cure so many people's problems here with JK2? I have no idea but its a good idea to keep informed about this development. The downside is that you can only get the fix from M$ through a support call and whether they charge you the super-inflated support fee is up to the "tech" you speak to. The article says the fix will be included in the first Service Pack. Oops, more importantly, here's the M$ link . Also, forgot to add that the article mentions DirectX 8.1 specifically (with XP and AMD).
Quall
ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. My PC was upgraded from our win98 OS with winXP today. I click on the JK2 icon and get an error message. I then come to these boards and find myself looking at the article in your post. NOOOOOOOOOOOO, I HAVE AN AMD AND THE GAME WON"T WORKKKKK. The really horrible part is that M$ charges you money when you call and ask about the fix, unless it's that specific problem. But you won't be able to tell if its that specific problem unless you call. That SUCKS.

Chiles4
I have never had any problems with XP pro myself And I'm sure that's true for alot of people - weird, huh? You can download the hotfix here. Thankfully, someone decided to post it. Hope it helps, Quall but I'm sure it's not a cure-all.
Sith Maximus
Originally posted by Chiles4 And I'm sure that's true for alot of people - weird, huh? Yes it is! I think it may have to do with the type of mainboard and other components that you use. I use all high quality components form Abit, Maxtor and Asus to name a few so this could be part of the problem. Maybe the oem manf do not take the time to get the systems to be stable enough for future updates.
RuDanger
....see now, they are not specific whether or not this is a AMD K7 or AMD XP chip based problem, b/c I have a 1.3 Athalon, WinXP Pro, and it runs fine... will install that patch anyhow, lets see if it makes a difference....
