acewombat
when you edit the npcs.cfg and make a new .pk2 should the original npcs.cfg remain in the assets0.pk3 or does it matter?
idontlikegeorge
yes you should never remove anything from the assests .pk3s, unless you want to severly damage you game whenever you edit system files, it is better to move the edited one into you mod folder; cuz anything in the base folder affects how the game is run all the time; and with multiples of the same file, it reverts back to the default one in the assests paks

acewombat
Hey thanks for you help. I finally got it to work using emon's tut. I was wondering if I wanted to give the trainer tavion's Ai is it nessecary to name him Tavion Jeditrainer such as in the Reborn Stormtrooper example. Also I was wondering is it possible to change the file so that the stormtrooper would inherit the fighting ai but keep the original voice. I believe it's something like this. send Reborn sendcombat Reborn sendJedi Reborn would I leave the first make the first line send, send stormtrooper instead to do this-maybe? And one last question If I do another do, can both folders be inside the base inside that same base/models/players folder which I extracted the original stormtrooper model folder to. idontlikegeorge
any customizations should not be in the base folder, besides maybe just for quick testing any customizations should be placed into your modname directory
RichDiesal
Incidentally, if you add any NPCs and create a new modified npcs.cfg, you SHOULD NOT release it as a regular map. It needs to be released as a mod only. If you add new NPCs (with new .npc files, I think it is), then you can.
acewombat
Well I figured I try it like this since I couldn't get a .npc file created properly-or atleast I don't think I am. So is this why he is a stormtrooper instead of a trainer?
