Guardian Omega
I get a HOM effect when I tried yavin_white..........
Bell
did you make the bottom brush of the sky box that texture? or did you place this texture above the bottom of the sky box?
RichDiesal
Any brush that completely blocks off an area and yet you should be able to see through it (trigger brushes, cushion brushes, fog brushes, glass brushes, etc) NEEDS to be made a detail brush, or the engine will get confused during VIS. Thus (in short), if you have a sky on the floor brush and a fog brush above it, the fog brush needs to be a detail brush.
Emon
Is that so? How come I have made triggers before and they weren't detail but worked fine?
Guardian Omega
I put the fog, only the top and bottom with that texture, and put it above the bottom sky brush.
Bell
k just so i'm clear you made a brush that is right above the bottom brush of the sky box, and you applied the fog texture to the top and bottom faces of that brush.

It filled an entire hallway or did VIS have a way to peek around it? If VIS can see the portal on the opposite side of the brush, then it's not necessary (will just make compile time increase). silverwest
does this include water? what if my water brush touches the void?
RichDiesal
what if my water brush touches the void? It shouldn't. Most water shaders are just a tad transparent... you'd end up being able to see the void through the water.
Bell
. . . which could cause the hom effect. It is good to make sure any brushes touching the void are structural, and the faces of these brushes which are on the void side caulked, or at least not have a texture with a shader attached to it.
