nomad Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 What silly error am I making? In my GameData/base/maps the only files of my map are "mymap.map" amd "mymap.bak" How do I get .bsp and .nav? BTW Thank you RichDiesal for your GREAT tutorial. The only step I skipped was entering the maps in SP, because I had already configured Radiant to MP and just figured I'd wait until I learned how to do MP maps. I knew that would come back and get me Seriously, thanks a lot, because the way your Tutorial is set up is a great way for me to learn these kinds of things. -nomad May the force be with you.
Guardian Omega Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 Try the bsp function at the top of the toolbar. That should help. Pick any one, preferrably full vis.
nomad Posted July 24, 2002 Author Posted July 24, 2002 Thanks, but I have done that. I've done full vis I've also done the "extra" one. It goes two seconds and says it's done. I'm only doing a very small/simple map and I've got a good machine. I just thought it was going fast, but it is possible it's not working. hmmm...
Guardian Omega Posted July 24, 2002 Posted July 24, 2002 Try making a seperate folder for them in the maps directory.....
nomad Posted July 24, 2002 Author Posted July 24, 2002 Thanks, just tried that, but it hasn't changed anything. I made a folder for each map, also tried an MP folder. Do I have to "save as" .bsp or will it automatically do that? I'm kind of at a loss here. This is the last place I thought I'd have a problem (which of course is always the first place you will have one) I've made a map of my own, along with some other maps made by going through diesal's tutorial. In my gamedata/base/maps directory, all the maps there are .map and .bak When saving through Radiant, I only have one choice for file type to save as, and that is "map file (*.map, *.reg)" The only way I can change that is to type in the name as .bsp, but I didn't think that would do anything. I am stuck As far as I knew, all I had to do was Make sure my directories are set up correctly in program settings Compile my map Save and then I should have a .bsp and .nav file??? Damn, it's annoying being a noob -nomad
nomad Posted July 24, 2002 Author Posted July 24, 2002 Still not working! Here's the error I get if I attempt to load the map through the console in MP: CM_Load Map: maps/mymap.bsp has wrong version number (1935764579 should be 1) It begins to load and then this error comes up. I figure I don't truly have a .bsp file as all I did was place that into the file name when saving. I have run fullvis bsp though! me confused -nomad MTFBWY
Shadriss Posted July 27, 2002 Posted July 27, 2002 First off, you don't need to add the .bsp extension when you save your file. I'm having the same problem now, but when it was working (five days ago...) all you had to do was save it (as a .map file) then compile with whatever mode of compile you wanted. It automatically creates the /bak file (a backup to the .map), then SHOULD create the .nav and the .bsp. In addistion, it also created a .prt file (pertal file) that is uses for a moment to calculate visability. It gets erased after the compile is done. But, as I said, even MINE isn't working now. Mine at least makes the .prt file, but no .nav, and no .bsp. I'd worked with JK2 Radient for almost a month with no issues, and then this comes up out of nowhere. I know that doesn't really help you, but at least now you know that someone else out there is a frustrated as you are!
nomad Posted July 27, 2002 Author Posted July 27, 2002 Thanks Shadriss, If you have to be frustrated at times, it always helps to at least share it I re-installed Radiant and it now compiles correctly. I must have messed up one of my directory paths in the project settings - my silly, noob mistake. It's now correctly compiling and saving bsp and nav files. Perhaps by doing the same, you can solve your problem. -nomad MTFBWY
Shadriss Posted July 27, 2002 Posted July 27, 2002 I've un-installed and re-installed three times. No good.
