pbguy1211
If you build a medium wall, and then later upgrade it, does it turn into a heavy and then a shielded wall if upgraded properly? I know turrets and everything else do... but I didnt think the walls did for whatever reason... am I (probably..) wrong?
Sithmaster_821
Yes, walls upgrade. And there are no stupid questions, just stupid people (or, in your case, slightly misinformed).
jcb231
Ya know what bugs me? The fact that light walls don't have an auto upgrade option.
Guest DarthMaulUK
When upgrading to Shielded walls, it does take time for the shields to fully charge. It is not instant. DMUK
Darth Windu
as they say, the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.
Kryllith
Light walls don't autoupgrade because they are made out of a different material. It's easy to upgrade an ore based wall; you simply stack more ore onto it. If you start stacking ore on a carbon-based wall you're going to end up with a wall with a rather weak inner/lower foundation which could be hazardous in its own right. jcb231
Yeah, but I'd still rather pay a super-expensive ore upgrade fee than have to go around rebuilding walls everywhere and in some cases tearing down light walls.
Kryllith
Wait til tech 2 to build (that's what I do). Or if you need walls in tech 1 to stave off a rush, just do it as minimalistically as possible. Kryllith
jcb231
Every game I decide to build nice wallls, I get no rush. Every game I don't wall up I get rushed. Sucks, but that's the way it seems to work.
Sithmaster_821
I tend not to build wall if its not nessassary. If i do, its in a hotly contested strip of land.
Guest DarthMaulUK
Building light walls is a waste of resources. If you are playing a high resource game - fair enough - but if you start with standard resources, its a total waste. A group of 4 or 5 troopers will be able to cut through a light wall fast and mounties will tear it down in seconds. If you are playing against the computer - forget this part - if not, read on. Most players will attack your carbon workers - as this is the key to building your army early and WILL slow you down if they succeed. Rather than waste your ore on a light wall, build a turret very close to your carbon workers, or between your Command Centre and carbon workers, so when you do fall under attack.... you can sound the alarm and then have extra defence against them. A turret is limited in T2 but it can be enough to keep you alive from a rush. Check out the strategy section of this website for other tips. Breton
I never use walls anyway
pbguy1211
Well, I tend not to use walls... only if I'm in a dire situation. As in out numbered. Usually a fortress, sheild generator and troop center combo work fine.
