svtdude
What is the difference between a model and a skin?
KBell
im pretty sure a model is a totaly different figure of a character (which is harder to create) while a skin is something painted over and existing model to make it look different. I may be wrong:rolleyes:
Revan Bakr'
no, I'm pretty sure you're right. i.e. Xeyph is a reskin of Desann. Anakin ep.ii was a reskin of Galak. Yoda was not based on any other skin.
MkZ Daedric
Model = The 3d mesh of the character/object. This is made up of polygons, which are made of triangles. Skin = The 2d image that is put on top of the model to give it texture.
Emon
A model, for any game, is just a 3D mesh of verticies and surfaces. A skin is the texture(s) that are applied over the model so it looks real, and isn't more than a wireframe. For JO, when people say, "Yoda is a new model" that means that the Yoda character includes a model AND a skin. New models don't always have entirely new skins, though.
