obi_1_kenobi Posted August 18, 2002 Posted August 18, 2002 ok my map looks all pretty and all but when i use my lights they are spots on the floor that fade out, doesnt light the whole room, and makes the texture look ugly ill give u a pix link from my site. MY SITE PIC
RichDiesal Posted August 18, 2002 Posted August 18, 2002 Well that's what a light is. Light entities are basically big spheres of light that hover wherever you put them. If you want a smoother effect, you'll need light-emitting shaders.
obi_1_kenobi Posted August 18, 2002 Author Posted August 18, 2002 Isnt there a way i can just have th whole room lit up like on other custom maps, rather than there being circles?
obi_1_kenobi Posted August 18, 2002 Author Posted August 18, 2002 Ahhh come on somebody must know how... Any one?
Leslie Judge Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 If I were you, I would move the lights upwards, and add the scale key to the entities with a value greater than 1. The scale will extend the area the light can enlighten. Or maybe more lightsources also will do a good job.
Joben Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 I looked at the cairn dock1.map Raven provided. they use lights with 'intesity' 5 and 'light' 30 a lot. I put settings like that in my map and it works quite nice. you have to use more of them and place them carfuly... and there is a way to get ambient light thoughout the map...but it doesnt look very realistic ive heard.
Emon Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 You could try light emitting shaders, those rock. They don't seem to give you the lightmap crap when you have tons of them. Just like at Sine_Nomen's Nar Shaddaa, his lighting is awesome, and he uses almost nothing but shader lights.
