icepool Posted August 18, 2002 Posted August 18, 2002 Well not much for a name I know but this is my first model and it is not finished. This took about 15 min. and I figured I post some pics and see if i can get some ideas from you all. I know its kind of plain and its probably over the poly count so does anyone know if theres a way to lessen the polycount without doing the model all over. And heres some pics.... http://www.geocities.com/darkness_112000/Sicklesaber.html
Sam Posted August 18, 2002 Posted August 18, 2002 Its a great idea but it sort of look likes two pluming pipes put togather. take off some of the rings around the saber and it'll look better
icepool Posted August 19, 2002 Author Posted August 19, 2002 Yeah I guess your right. The more I look at it the more it looks like ****. Maybe I'll trash this one and practice a little more beforce I post something again.
Mr PoopyPants Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 I think it looks pretty neat. It could be cool to have a saber like that, more diversity.
icepool Posted August 19, 2002 Author Posted August 19, 2002 With 76 views and only 2 comments you have to wonder if its worth doing. I'm really starting to think maybe it was just a stupid idea.
Deetox187 Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 I think its cool but i believe someone already made a sickle saber awhile back. Doesn't quite look like yours but maybe thats why you're not getting many replies, cause its already been done.
GabrielXen Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 *sigh* Nice way to break a person's spirit... lol Here's a suggestion; what about the skin for it...? Do you have one, or are you working on it...? It might appeal to more people after it's skinned... Â -Gabriel- Â
icepool Posted August 19, 2002 Author Posted August 19, 2002 Yeah I've seen that but the handle on this was only gonna be about twice the lenght of a normal saber handle and the blade would be around 0.5 with jedimod. So its sort of the same but would look alot different. Right now im just messing around with design so it dosnt look so much like plumbing pipes. I created it as I was going along instead of drawing out a sketch first (I should know better by now) and rushed it to much so hopefully tomorrow I'll have a better design and people will like it.
icepool Posted August 19, 2002 Author Posted August 19, 2002 Gabriel thats another problem I'm gonna have. The only skinning I can do is changing colors to an exsisting skin wich isn't to hard so i'll definately need someone to skin it. I think it would look alot better with a skin though.

Isn't it logical that people would be less interested to comment if they've seen something similar before? Â i do think its a weird looking saber but i'd still like to try it out.
Sam Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 I think it would be waaay cooler if you put a spike on the bottom and made a speacial blade for it
GabrielXen Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 I think it's a weird looking saber too, but that's what makes it interesting... I've made one similar to it, and they are a bit different, if not difficult, to fight with... As for re-coloring an existing skin, I'm not sure it that would work, but I'm sure there's a way... Darsha_x1 Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 Awsome model , is the blade going to look like sickle ?
icepool Posted August 20, 2002 Author Posted August 20, 2002 Alright, I redid the saber completely. I hope it does not look like to plumbing pipes connected now. Here are some pics tell me what you think. http://www.geocities.com/darkness_112000/Sicklesaber2.html Also the first 2 pics are the original one.
Twisted Vertex Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 Well I am quite grateful you posted an image that is easily viewable without any funky lighting and shading. I must say that it's a very orginial design, but the part that comes out at a right angle seems to be a little to fat. Other than that, I am quite interested to see some textures.
<JOTD>Jedi Hunter Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 The first thing I thought when I saw it was... This is just as good as Mauls double saber. It's nice to see people still work hard to create new and intresting models. I hope to see this in the Jkii.net ranks.
icepool Posted August 20, 2002 Author Posted August 20, 2002 Heres a small update. I redid the part that looked to big and came up with this. The bottom two pics are of the current model. http://www.geocities.com/darkness_112000/Sicklesaber3.html Just let me know what you think should be fixed or improved!
<JOTD>Jedi Hunter Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 Yet another great achievment. Icepool, it's great looking. Btw, your avatar looks kick ass.
icepool Posted August 22, 2002 Author Posted August 22, 2002 Ok I finally got time to finish the textures. I did two slightly different versions. Please tell me wich version you like better. And also if anyone can help me and tell me wich part I do next I'd appriceiate it. Is there some kind of mapping or something. I know I have to add tags supposively with triangles that arn't textured correct? Well here are the pics http://www.geocities.com/darkness_112000/Sicklesaber4.html
Wes Marrakesh Posted August 22, 2002 Posted August 22, 2002 Looks alot better now than the first pic... come quite a way I like the first skin with the gold tint because it adds balance to the saber.
hawk_of_war Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 Is it functional? It doesn't seem like it would work well.
Deetox187 Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 yeah it'll look pretty weird when you swing it around but it will be functional, good job icepool it looks tons better than you had it originally.
