JavaGuy Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 This seems fairly basic to me, but I haven't been able to find an answer in any of the tutorials. I have a bunch of stormtroopers standing around. I want them just to hang out until a certain trigger is fired, and then I want them to follow a path of waypoints, attacking along the way. I haven't found a trigger to "activate" the troopers and make them go attack. Also, they do attack the player when he gets close enough, but they do not follow the path of waypoints; they just go straight for the nearest point_combat.
Takeoffyouhoser Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 I believe that they are SUPPOSED to go towards the nearest combat point....from what I have read of this so far in tutorials...
JavaGuy Posted August 19, 2002 Author Posted August 19, 2002 Okay, I get that part now. They go straight to the battle point _unless_ they can't see one, in which case they follow the nearest waypoint. I still would like to know how to get a stormtrooper to start patroling along a path _before_ he makes any contact with the player. And now I have a couple more questions about waypoints and battlepoints: If an NPC is working his way towards a waypoint that he can see, and a battle point that he couldn't see before becomes visible, will he forget about the waypoint before reaching it and just head towards the battle point? If an NPC reaches waypoint A and can now see the battle point, but waypoint A targets waypoint B, which in turn targets the battle point, will the NPC forget about waypoint B and go straight to the battle point, or will he finish the path, going first the B and from there to the battle point? How does the INVESTIGATE flag on a battle point really work? Thanks! Sam
Karshaddii Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 Your answer is scripting. Your tutorial is here: http://www.geocities.com/rellenbroek/main_realscripts.html
Joben Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 Ya know I am becoming realy happy about the number of EF tutrorials around that are aplicable to JK2. *Wonders if he can import stuff like .md3 files designed for EF into JK2Radiant.* *cant think why you shouldnt be able to* *goes and looks for an apropriate experimental subject*
alanuk Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 you can import the md3 but they are big pointless when u have chiar and tables in jk2 hehe but any way do a st theam hehe use some textuers aswell
Karshaddii Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 Joben, *IF your are being sarcastic* If you have brains for yourself (and I know that you do) then it is no problem to figure out scripting using EF. Its just a tad bit different--and it helps anyone who has no clue what to do. If you have a better tutorial then don't hesitate to post one. *IF you weren't being sarcastic* Then disregard what I said above and slap me in the face. = )
