Slunker
I'm trying to get my main character to look up at a hole he just fell through in a cinematic sequence. SET_LOOK_TARGET didn't quite work. Is there another SET_ value that I'm supposed to use, or is there a particular kind of brush/entity that I'm supposed to use as the focus point? I used a ref_tag for this past attempt. Can anyone help me? -Slunker
Leslie Judge
Just an idea, because I'm not familiar with scripting yet, but as I saw in the SP scripts provided by Raven, the looking movements need a part of animation to play. I mean in the beginning of the game, when Jan and Kyle are in the ship, when Mon Motha appears, Jan looks at her. This is made with the animation of the model. Look in the cinematic1 script for details! I can not be sure that this is the rule for every specific movement in cinematic scenes, but maybe it can help to figure out something. Slunker
Hmm... that sounds right... but that's not good, because there's no look-up animation... -SLunker
idontlikegeorge
im pretty sure there is. desann looks up at kyle at the end... although, yeah, a straight up one, probably not there... you could change the scene around a bit though. make it so the character falls down face first, then show him roll over onto his back; then point the camera up at the hole, suggesting hes looking up from the ground there, then have him get up and go
Slunker
Hmm... that's a possibility... *looks through his 13-page list of animations*... do you know the name of one for rolling over?
idontlikegeorge
there are a couple, but i dont think they stop after rolling over, i.e. they go into another pose... maybe you could stop the animation on a certain frame? there could be one that would work tho, i mean there is tons of animations there.... id look for one, but i just reformated and havent install any of the editing tools yet (need to bad i need to get going on my maps)
Slunker
I changed the around the cinematic so that he just doesn't look up at all. It wasn't absolutely necessary, so I just didn't worry about it... -Slunker
