GeorgeLucasBCN
I own an ATI Radeon 8500 built by ATI. The games works fine but when I activate the volumetric shadows they appear strange projected over character faces like triangles and not really like shadows. Projected on the ground looks good but not in the parts of the body or in droids. Please anyone can tell me why this happens. This happens using a Geforce? Kyth Tal'ex
I am having this same trouble. Volumetric shadows work beautifully for me, except on characters. What seems to be happening is that, on the character models, a polygon is either shaded or it is not. I have been watching the shadows as the character move, and noticed that there are only two shades being rendered -- shaded and unshaded. Here is a screenshot: I am using a GeForce 4 Ti 4400 128 MB. Emon
This happens no matter what your system specifications are, it's flawed coding in Q3's volumetric shadows system. They aren't supposed to be used, but Raven threw an option in there anyway. Try cg_shadows 3 in the console. Cg_shadows 2 is volumetric, 1 is blob shadows, 3 is a bit different, take a look.
