mli
I finished my map and made it a pk3. Then I put it in my base directory and when I go to multiplayer and select it, all the shaders are wrong. My skybox produces a HOM effect and my gold shader doesn't show up at all. What's up?
mli
Please help me because none of my pk3'd maps work so I can't distribute them...
giganerd
Did you use custom textures and/or shaders? If you did, you need to make sure that you packed them (in the proper directories of course) in your .pk3 file.
mli
Yup, they're paked. Can I send you the pk3 and check it out?
Andy867
usually the hall of mirrors effect is based on the leak in your sky, because what is happening is that data is escaping the confines of the map into "THE VOID" which since the void has no solid shape, it gets repeating textures over.. and over. and over, and you get the point. so when compiling your map, like in JKRadiant, check the status box and also your map folder to see if it is producing a file called "mapname.LIN" if that is the case, there should also be like a red line in your map where the leak is occuring. Â Â And when packing textures, you will need to create folder under your hard drive directory so it assumes the right sub-folders. Because if you keep in your program files\Star Wars JK II JEDI OUTCAST folder\gamedata\base foler\textures or whatever, then when you pack them, it won't just back them in the textures folder, but it will remember the "program files\Star Wars JK II JEDI OUTCAST folder\gamedata\base foler" folders as well. so if your textures are called test you would make a folder theoretically in your c: OR d: called textures/test then you would add the files from there, so they get packed right, but if you prefer, you can send the files and the map to me just to see whats happening exactly. and see what I can do to correct it. Â Â dmccarthy100@charter.net is my email and make sure to mark the subject line as TEST MAP so I know what the email is for:) I hope we can get this map working for ya. Andy867
Have you caulked the outside of the map near the skybox. also be sure to check for any leaks that could occur.... Even the slightest misalignment will cause major problems in compiling. Are you using JKRadiant or GTK? Â Also, MLI, I received your email, but when checking it through yahoo, it "misinterpreted" the map file, and coverted it to a text format of the map file, so could you re-send it in a zip file please.? and I can get to working on it tomorrow when I am also working to get the 70 or so files posted onto the http://www.jediknightii.net Files Section. Andy867
Hey MLI, i've been doing different tests and I tried using some basic skyboxes after caulking them, and when doing that, It got rid of the HOM effect, but when I get the Map texutres, i will apply them, and go from there.. by the way, the map looks great. nice eye for detail
mli
So the skybox should be auto caulked? Well you see, I run the game and I type in /devmap kami and it works fine. Shaders and all work perfect. But when I try to run it from the game by choosing it from the menu the shaders don't work. And those shaders are the ones in the pk3. Are my shaders messed up? Â BTW: All the textures, shaders and everything are in the pk3 link in the first e-mail. So you can just extract the textures and shaders folder into your base directory. Then the .map file will be textured.
Andy867
well, what was weird is when I used the auto-caulk, and applied a skybox, it eliminated the home effect. but like I said before, the pk3 on the website you gave me was corrupted, so I wasn't actually able to use the shaders just yet. but if you could email me the shaders in a zip file, that might help. and I will check out the problem when loading from the menu list... Gohan_Trunksss
andy i used caulk and then added sky to the face of the caulked brush and it still doesnt compile unless i delete the roof of the skybox then it will compile. any ideas?
