when ever i try to play a level i get the error -Error: Couldn't Find Spawn Point. I have looked over may faqs and none of them mention this anywhere in their faq. I have added the npcs or what evers you wanna call it called info_player_start or what ever. And it still comes up wth this error if you can help thanx

Perhaps the spawnpoints are not correctly positioned, meaning that they're outside in the oblivion rather than being inside your map. Also, does this happen on all the maps you play, like the ones that you d/l or the ones that came w/ the game or does this happen only when you play/test maps that you made?

it only happens on the levels that i make. And i just checked the level and teh start thing is in the middle of the level and i made the level HUGE so that i could make sure that it wasnt in a wall or somthing and it still has the same error.

Well first, is it SP or MP?

If SP use info_player_start

If MP use info_player_deathmatch

For both make sure that the spawn point does not clip any brushes, and it is not in the void, and it is the right type of spawn for the map type.

Ok, now let it out.

Check, first of all, your preferancees, ,and make sure that your entities path is set for SP.

Next, make sure that the entity is a info_player_start. If you want him facing a certain direction on start, set that in the entity window (N key)

Finally, when testing, make sure you are loading up the SP side of the game.

I know this sounds elementary, but, as we say in the Navy, you always have to perform the idiot checks first. Thats why, in a troubleshooting guide, the first thing to check is "Is it plugged in?"

If these checks dont work, We'll delve deeper into the possible issues.

I checked my prefrences and they are set to SP

and i do have the info_player_start

and when testing the level on SP side im kinda confused on what you are talking about but i think it might be just playing the game in SP only:confused:

Also Bell i sent that level to you.

hi i got it but when i tried to send youu back the version it failed.

anyways the map is fine, if you didn't pak it and you just have the bsp, then run single player, bring down the console, and tyep

devmap mymap (mymap is the name of your map)

or use winzip to pak it with an arena file and throw it in your base folder.

if i remember rite just double check your info player start and lite are not touching any other brushes

The ideal gap between any brushes and the info_player_start entity would be more than 32 and less than 64 map units.

Don't place it too high or you'll end up dead by falling down at the start.
