defalc
What does Vertical-Sync (V-sync) do exactly? It's enabled in my OpenGL settings. I remember reading somewhere that it gives you a lower FPS. Should I turn it off?
BCanr2d2
V-Sync in simple terms, is that it waits for the vertical refresh of your screen to do a screen update. In otherwords it ties the FPS to the same rate as your screen refresh. IE 60 Hz refresh rate, with V-Sync means 60 FPS. It depends if you really want to turn it off, it seems to be more of a problem in DirectX where V-Sync makes a huge performance hit. Check out hardware/overclocking sites to see what the best set up for your card is...

I can find the V-sync settings for OpenGL but not for Direct 3D
